“Impressive”
We absolutely loved it. Base2stay has all the essentials. Impecabble rooms, comfy beds, clean modern showers, helpful staff, great location, honest staff - they found my daughters bracelet in the room and handed it over to reception. It was great to be able to buy food and heat it up in the kitchenette in the room. After trekking all day in London, all we wanted to do was cozy up in the room with a takeaway dinner or order in. Frankly, I cant think of anything negative to say about the place and I will certainly stay there again.

Excellent location (bus, subway, sightseeing); gentle reception staff ; good beds, useful two-room corridors; convenient internet and television utilities.
We would have loved a small breakfastbite in the morning, but will be back nevertheless.

“A Refuge”
When I made this booking, I explained that we would need early occupancy of our room for medical reasons. The telephone operator was extremely helpful and clearly explained that this could not be guaranteed, but that they would do everything they could to help. We arrived at about 11am in appalling weather and the reception staff (via their radio link to the cleaning staff) were able to give us an estimate of about 45 minutes until our room was serviced. In the meantime they were able to recommend, and provide discount vouchers for, a very pleasant restaurant for an early lunch. The rest of our stay lived up to the standard of this excellent start. Although the room area was a little small, it was extremely well appointed, stylish, well designed and comfortable. The staff were attentive and helpful - extra milk and tea bags etc- and arranged an excellent taxi for my post-operative partner to make her way alone across London. It was only an overnight stop, but I was actually rather sorry that we were not staying longer! We will certainly return when next we have to stay in London.

“Perfect from start to finish”
Congratulations base2stay on a brilliant concept. This hotel is designed with the needs of its guests in mind. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we received excellent service. The rooms are beautiful, compact and have everything you need for a really comfortable stay. What we loved most about it was the self-catering facility and with a range of good supermarkets within five minutes walk away you can enjoy a great choice of food. Travelling to London is expensive and so this really makes a difference.
Secondly the shower was superb and to top it all the beds were comfortable and the room really quiet and spotlessly clean.
The location is in a pleasant residential area five minutes walk from Earl's Court station so you are close to all the tourist attractions and nightlife.
I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. I was loathe to leave this morning! We will most certainly be back.

“More than I was expecting”
If you want to step outside and be in London city this isn't the place for you, but base2stay is just down the road from a tube station, on the Piccadilly line which allows easy access to Heathrow airport and London city.
The staff were very friendly, and I was surprised to find an elevator after other hotels I'd stayed in which seemed the same size, but then threw a whole lot of staircases at you. I was also surprised to find that the room, while fairly small (though certainly not much smaller than other hotels I'd stayed in during my trip, which seems to be the way singles are going these days) was packed full of extras. There was a large TV on the wall which you could pull over to watch while in bed, and this sported a number of movies for 2 pounds. There was free WiFi and all of the technological gear you could need, a kitchenette, a lovely spacious shower in the bathroom and the bed was soooo comfy.
There was also a large information book with recommendations of restaurants, including discounts for them and places that offered delivery, though you're also down the road from a number of places to grab a quick bite as well.
All in all I was really happy with this place, and it was a great hotel to stay in to end my trip.

“Great contemporary style in a good location at a good price”
My husband and I have stayed at base2stay a few times before and we still love it. It's a really good stylish hotel that is in a good location for shopping and also there are lots of good local places to eat (The Troubadour being a favourite of mine). The staff are always really friendly and there is free wi fi as well as the convenience of having a mini kitchen (hidden in what looks like a wardrobe). On a previous trip I was in London for a week on a business course and its great being able to come back and prepare your own dinner occasionally and sort out breakfast in the morning - also what makes this very easy is the proximity to M&S Simply food as well as some other supermarkets.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting London - it gets pretty booked up though so book ahead if you can.

Small but friendly, very helpful staff, clean, comfortable room with good facilities, ours located in the centre of the hotel so no great outlook but fairly quiet, and very handily located near Earls Court with a wide range of shops and restaurants close by. Would stay again.

“Very convenient for moderate price”
I spent 2 nights when on business in London. The hotel is very conveniently situated in a quiet residential area, only 5 minutes to next tube station (Earls Court). Although the room was very small, everything you need is there (small kitchen, free wifi). All very new and clean, wonderful toilet/shower.
Highly recommendable for a short stay. For a longer stay the rooms should be bigger.

“A real pleasure to stay here, in all respects”
I chose this hotel based on the excellent reviews on this site, as well as the value for money - which is achieved by not having some of the amenities that I would prefer not to have to pay for if I am not going to use them (restaurant, gym, room service etc.) The rooms are compact but totally adequate. The mini kitchen is a dream for breakfasts and light snacks. The bathroom is wonderful - heated towel rail to dry off damp clothes and a really great shower, to boot. The service and staff interaction was excellent, and the proximity to the Tube station was a winner!! And so quiet, you could hear a pin drop. But most of all, the tasteful, modern, clean lines and decor was the cherry on the top - we just HATE old dark heavy curtains and wood panelling!!

“Affordable luxury with no hidden extras- highly recommended!”
The hotel is situated in a fab area of London. It is only a street away from Earls Court tube station. It has a boutique hotel feel. The building is a beautiful listed building, which has been restored with great care and attention to detail. You get the feeling that the building is really old because it has so much character, yet it has all the comforts of a modern chic hotel.
My room was really cool. It was on the lower ground level with a private patio area, Internet connection and plasma television. The best bit was the bathroom, the shower was so powerful!
I had never stayed in this type of hotel before. This is a really good way to run a hotel -I am glad I tried something new. For the first time ever, I actually paid on my departure the amount I had been quoted when I Booked- there was no hidden extras!
There is no bar or restaurant in this hotel, but there is a concealed kitchen area with all the facilities you need to cook a meal. Perfect- I was able to go to the supermarket and buy what I wanted and cook it for a fraction of what it would have cost to eat in a London restraint!
The staff are really friendly and helpful and the hotel is extremely clean.
I would most definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in a great location in London, in a trendy, modern hotel at an affordable price!

“Fantastic hotel”
This is a lovely hotel, excellent location. 5 minute walk to Gloucester Road tube station.
Late opening Tesco express two minutes away which was very handy.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The only minor negative is no car park, but we were aware of this before we went anyway. We parked in the nearby Holiday Inn car park. This is £27 per 24 hours so it is an extra expense that needs to be taken into consideration.
This is only a minor point, otherwise fantastic hotel and would recommend it!

“The only place to stay when travelling with teenagers!”
The location of this hotel is perfect! The tube is a 2 minute walk and there are so many shops
and restaurants in the area. The hotel offers excellent recommendations through their
state of the art in room guide. We did not bring a lap top with us so the use of the TV as a computer was brilliant! We travelled with our 2 teenage sons, ages 15 and 19, who shared a bunk bed room which was also brilliant! It is difficult to find a place to stay where everyone is so comfortable. It was very cost efficient. The rooms are super well equipped and we enjoyed our morning coffee and a bowl of cereal before heading out for our day. The bathroom is large and well appointed. The linen and towels are all top notch. We will definitely stay here again. Steer clear of restaurants on Cromwell and head over to Brompton and Earls Ct. area for the better food finds.

“Oasis of calm and convenience in London”
This is one hotel that lives up to its advertising and reputation. My room was spotlessly clean, large by London standards, thoughtfully furnished, and oh so quiet at night. Modern bathroom with a big shelf for toiletries and a great shower. Mini kitchen with fridge, microwave, teakettle, dishes and silverware. A closet with room to hang and shelves to stack. Plenty of electrical outlets for plugging stuff in. Wireless Internet in the room. Friendly and helpful staff. All this one (long) block from the Earl's Court tube station or a pleasant 15-minute walk to the South Kensington station. My room was at the back and the view was of a blank brick wall, but that's about the worst thing I can think of to say, and it certainly made for a much quieter room than other London hotels. Oh, and the bed was okay but not fabulous. No restaurant or room service but with so many restaurants nearby, who cares? There's a Marks & Spencer food shop a block away that has terrific prepared meals, fresh fruit, etc., so you can easily stock up for breakfast and snacks.

"Excellent location, excellent hotel, I would stay again"
What a little gem! A London hotel with a small kitchenette with a great location close to the tube, grocery shop, good price, very clean and comfortable and friendly staff.... you get it all when you stay at this small boutique hotel. My husband and I stayed in a double room and my mother in a single room. The rooms are not large but they are adequate. I have stayed in some horrible hotels in London and to find one that ticks all the boxes and is not over prices is rare. I would highly recommend thisss hotel to all my friends and family.

“Great place to stay - very good value too!”
We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Base2Stay in Kensington and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Myself, mam and sister stayed in a triple room with 3 beds. The room has its own tea/coffee facilities and a microwave which we did not use but great to have just in case. The room and ensuite were spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. The only downside was the fold out single bed, it was quite narrow and not terribly comfortable but ok for 2 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the cost of the room was very good value. We will definitely stay here again when we return to London. (A toaster in the room would be great but perhaps this is a fire risk?).

“Great hotel in a great location”
After reading about London hotels, I was expecting a cramped room, but ours was nice and roomy. We had a king sized bed and it was very comfortable. It was very clean and well equipped. The mini kitchen was nice to have and we used it every morning for breakfast. The staff were all friendly. On our last day, our TV stopped working and we called the front desk to let them know. They were very responsive and sent someone within an hour to repair it. The shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The location is great - a short walk to the Earl's Court tube station. We walked around the area a good bit and at night and always felt safe. This is a great hotel and I'm sure we will be back.

Comfortable, spotless, very well-designed & equipped room, excellent staff. Good bed, blackout curtains & inner door all ensured uninterrupted sleep despite having standard room G8 which was right next to reception. "Simply outstanding hotel, reasonably priced and super quiet location"
This hotel was excellent and I will be staying here next time if I am ever to visit London again. All the reviews about it being quiet, clean and fantastic value for money are spot on. I arrived direct from Sydney and so was knackered and needed a good nights sleep. The hotel is in such a quiet location that this happened giving me a great start to the next day. The services are great and free wifi (which always worked!) and the location is very handy for direct access into the heart of London either by walking or via the close tubes stations (either Earls Court or Gloucester Road). Simply excellent and I do not have a single bad word I can say about it.

"Rave reviews speak the truth..."
... this hotel really IS a sterling example of excellent hospitality and a great business idea.
The location is excellent (just one block from Earl's Court, which means you have 3 tube lines at your disposal: District, Circle and Piccadilly) and with a great neighborhood feel (pubs, restaurants, pharmacy, convenience stores, banks and ATM machines); the staff is friendly and helpful and avaliable 24/7; the rooms are impeccably clean and cozy (I had a single and, despite being a rather big specimen of human, I never once felt constricted); the decor is minimal/contemporary but very pleasant and the free wi-fi actually works!
I'll definitely be coming back and gladly make it my home base for my future jaunts in London; in the meantime, I'll recommend it to all my (deserving) friends!

"West London's perfect hotel at a perfect price"
I travel to London yearly and have consistently had an arduous time finding an affordable hotel in a desirable part of town. No longer. I stayed at Base2Stay earlier this week and will never visit London again without staying there. Base2Stay is in a gorgeous part of west London and yet feels nothing like a cold, conglomerate, chain hotel. From the minute I checked in, the service at this unique, stylish hotel was wonderful - kind, attentive, but not overly so. My room was clean and comfortable, and with the Earl's Court underground station just two short blocks away, all of London was at my front door. Of course all of this would be moot if the rates were sky high, but they are absolutely not. Base2Stay somehow manages to keep their rates incredibly low, all while providing a premium stay. I've stayed all over town, and Base2Stay is by far the best hotel experience I've had in London.

"Practically perfect in every way"
As a base for a business or leisure traveller this is perfect. They've spent money and time getting it right - the decor is neutral and modern, the little kitchen has the essential bits you need for a plate of nosh and generally it feels clean, well looked after and a little bit plush.
The nearest parking is at the Marriot hotel - 2 minutes walk, which is currently £32 overnight.
It's a five-ten minute walk to the nearest tube station and there are loads of restaurants nearby.
If you're a runner, Hyde Park is pretty nearby and there's lots of back streets to explore.
I will definitely be returning and almost feel reluctant to recommend it in case it gets too popular!!!

"Truly exceptional"
I usually stay in 5* hotels but on a short trip (heading to Liverpool, where I stayed at the new base2stay - also wonderful), this seemed to be a practical and good value alternative. I couldn't have chosen better. Incredibly convenient location, clever concept, really well executed. The mini-kitchen and discounts at local restaurants are great for choice and economy, but the whole ethos of not trying to squeeze extras out of you at every opportunity is very in tune with this age of austerity. Keep it up base2stay and open lots more, especially over here in the US!

"Found our go to London hotel for all our visits"
Just returned from our first visit to base2stay Hotel in Kensington and we were so pleased that it is now our "go to" hotel for all visits to London - hands down! We have visited London several times and have found nice hotels to be expensive in this great city. This trip was our "practice retirement" travel and base2stay did not disappoint us. They have clearly figured out what the traveler wants and needs and all at an affordable price without sacrificing quality and location. Travel to and from Heathrow is so convenient even for the novice traveler - you take the Piccadilly Line to Earl's Court - short walk to hotel - making this an absolute breeze to travel in and around London. Accommodations were perfect - perfect sized room, excellent storage space, mini kitchen built-in, flat screen tv , great nearby restaurant recommendations - Strada being our absolute favourite! We do advise not to stray from the hotel's local recommended restaurants - we did and shame on us! The staff shined bright ... they were friendly, accommodating, and a wealth of accurate information. You can count on them to guide you! We cannot wait to return and hope they expand their green concept hotel to other great cities in Europe! We will always choose base2stay as our home away from home hotel!

"Excellent choice"
base2stay was an excellent choice for us. The hotel is just around the corner from Earls Court tube station and also has many other useful shops nearby eg post office, Marks and Spencer, laundrette, pharmacy, newsagent. The twin room was comfy, clean and well presented. We had free internet access via the TV in the room which was really handy. The hotel also has WiFi for those travelling with a laptop. The internet via TV was a little awkward because you use a TV remote instead of a mouse, but hey, it worked. We had the room cleaned daily. The mini kitchen included a microwave, bar fridge and kettle. We were able to buy food at M&S and heat it up in the room. So convenient! The staff were helpful and knowledgable.Terrific choice of hotel. Highly recommended.

"Fantastic Find"
base2stay in Kennsinton was a fantastic find. We travelled from Dublin to Heathrow. Tube straight to Earlscout station on Picadilly line. No changes and lift and ramp to street level, so no hauling suitcases up steps. Cross the road outside tube staion, down the road opposite, turn right and you're there! Marks & Specer Food market , Boots and several restaurants in vicinty. Staff all very helpful, efficient and friendly. Room modern, clean, overlooked garden at back and very quiet. Bathroom bright, modern and good size. Lovely large bath sheet and hand towels. Kitchenette with kettle, fridge and microwave a great idea. Plates, bowls, wine glasses and tumblers supplied as well as cuttlery and cork screw. We arrived around midday and left our cases at reception as our rooms weren't ready, (Check in is 2pm onwards) On our return at 6pm approx, the receptionist remembered my name! All in all we were delighted with base2stay. We will recommend it to friends and would definitely stay here again.

"base2stay Kensington was an awesome hotel and very affordable for me"
This hotel is only a block away from the Earl's Court tube station with multiple tube lines. It is very clean and modern. All the employees were eager to help at all times. Each room has a microwave, refrigerator, and kitchenette. The savings come due to the fact the hotel does not have an on site restaurant or food service or gym or pool. Even in the smaller room the bathroom was normal size and I loved the towel warmer. If you want to save a little money by not eating out every meal, I recommend base2stay in South Kensington. The free Wi-fi was also a plus. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

"Can't complain...would consider staying there again"
I was travelling with people who were staying in Knightsbridge and I didn't really want to spend more than $400 per night so I thought I would give Base2Stay a try. The Kensington location is excellent, but be warned that it is on a side street that does not run at right angles to any of the major nearby streets. It's a little tricky finding it. The Hotel has free wireless connectivity which seems to be rare these days. My room was no smaller than other London hotel rooms in which I've stayed previously. The Hotel is less than a 5 minute walk to the Earls Court tube station and only slightly longer to the Gloucester Road station. Less than a 15 minute walk to the Victoria & Albert Museum. The mini kitchen (microwave, small refrigerator, etc.) proved to come in handy also. The bathroom was fine and included a pretty good shower and a towel-warming rack. I would stay there again!

"base2stay - perfect!"
We spent 6 nights here in double room which was very reasonable. Everything was clean and streamlined. Excellent location within 5 minutes of Earl's Court Tube, pubs, bank, post office and grocery store which made our days perfect. After long day of sightseeing, the hotel was close enough that the brief walk was welcome. The kitchenette was compact but very workable. Staff kept room clean and well stocked. Bathroom was nice size and felt airy. Only complaint I had was our bed due to configuration of room was against the wall which I slept next to and that only bothered me when I had to get up during the night. We were on the street / front side of the buildng but we hardly noticed any street noise at all.
Definitely appreciated being able to use the free internet in the room which worked off the TV so I could email family & friends. Took a little bit to figure out since I couldn't find any instructions on which buttons to use but it did the job. In-room safe was a welcome addition as well.
Staff were friendly and very helpful with any request for directions, suggestions or room replenishments. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for 4 nights on a recent holiday and could not fault the concept, the cleanliness or or the location. The concept "base to stay" is perfect as that is what most people are wanting when in London (i.e. not a resort). Earls Court tube station 5 minutes walk. The rooms are compact but make efficient use of space and mini kitchen is great for doing own breakfast and snacks. "Nothing but good to say - will stay again"
Husband and I stayed for three nights and were impressed with this hotel. We felt it was very good value for the cost. There were many things to recommend about it. We felt it to be conveniently located (walking distance to two tube stations and close to several restaurants, some shopping, and yet on a quiet street). The room was a reasonable size and had everything we needed: king sized bed, desk, tv, nice modern bathroom (terrific shower and a good ledge to store toiletries, and the towels were huge, and fluffy & bright white). There is a closet that contains a handy little efficiency kitchen with microwave, fridge, sink, kettle, tea pot and dishes and the hotel points out where two different supermarkets are (which are walking distance) and the decor is up to date and stylish. The clerks at the front desk are very helpful: when we asked about a place for dinner they gave us a discount coupon for one spot - When we decided not to go to one of their recommended restaurants they happily printed out a google map showing us directions on how to get the restaurant we did choose. The common areas of the hotel are clean and modern while still maintaining a certain charm. It is small and intimate but at the same time private and completely professional. We would definitely stay here again, and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

"Very pleased"
Thank you fellow travelers, base2stay did not disapppoint. Our room (202) was wonderfully quiet and actually larger than expected. It was modern and clean. We had a comfortable king bed, a desk and chair, plus chair for reading. Closet space was generous and included storage shelves which enabled us to unpack and put away suitcases. Bathroom was spacious, large soft towels. Loved the heated towel rack! However, I would suggest to management that they install grip bars in the shower as the tub is very deep and can be slippery. The kitchenette was very nice to have, we saved money and had healthy breakfasts in our room. As others have noted, the hotel is very close to stores and the Earl's Court tube stop. But thankfully it is far enough away from the busy streets so you have a quiet place to return to every evening. Hotel staff very nice and helpful, and they offer discount cards for some of the local restaurants. We particularly liked Balans. Really liked Kensington, there are many nice neighborhoods to explore if you have time.

Stayed at base2stay for 3 nights in a double room (included a kitchenette). Location of the hotel was great...5 minute walk to the Gloucester Road Underground, a 15 minute walk to the Victoria & Albert Museum, and about 30 minute walk to Harrods.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful when required. I would recommend this hotel to my friends/family who are travelling to London, and will stay there again next time.

"Quiet hotel, guaranteed a good night's sleep with no noise"
I chose this hotel over the premier inn which is located close by, mainly because of the excellent reviews and comments on how quiet it is, me and my partner are extremely light sleepers and find it impossible to sleep with a lot of street noise, this hotel was fantastic, very helpful reception staff, rooms contemporary and very clean with excellent kitchen facilities and best of all extremely quiet, we slept well both nights and will definatley stay again when we head to the city A+

"base2stay delivers"
We stayed in a double room for 5 nights in this hotel. We choose base2stay after reading all the good reviews it had got on this site. As was expected the double room we got (G6) was a bit small and the bed a bit too hard, at least for my girlfriend. There were some sound from the corridor as well but nothing that would disturb our sleep.
Apart from these minor complaints this really is a good hotel. The room was clean and was kept that way for all our stay. The bathroom had plenty of space and was equipped with a good shower and a large mirror.
The location is great, especially if you are flying to and from Heathrow as the tube from the airport runs directly to Earls Court wich is a 5 minute walk away. There are plenty of restaurangs and stores close by.
We can easely recommend base2stay to friends and we would certainly consider staying here next time visiting London.

Excellent staff. Updated amenities and well-maintained.
Room size is Londonesque i.e. tiny. Bed could have been firmer. Wireless was fast and free.

"I will return to base2stay"
Good location in a quiet neighbourhood at walking distance of 2 strategic stations of London Underground. Our room was comfortable, clean and well furnished with a small fridge, a microwave oven and accompanying dishes.
Our room was L17 at midground level. Although "midground" level sounds unusual for hotel accomodation (especially if you are a North American), our room proved to be very pleasant.
A good place to stay if you want to feel like a Londoner.

"Great double room, 5 mins walk to Kensington tube"
Not sure what happened to those who rated this hotel as poor but we thought it was exactly as the more positive reviews had indicated. We had a nice double room , well equipped, nice bathroom , wifi was good although had to keep logging in , very comfy bed. Great location, friendly staff and we were able to check in a tad early. Wish it had a proper kitchen but that was not what was promised. i think it is good value for london.

"Great hotel and location"
Base 2 Stay Kensignton does exactly what it says on the tin. The hotel is in a fantastic location, 5 mins walk from Gloucester Road tube station in a beautiful old building. The service is slick and the rooms are clean and perfectly comfortable. For approx £150 a night it is excellent value by London standards. If you are lookign for somewhere in the Kensington area then this is a must. It is much nicer than the nearby Holiday Inn and Millenium Hotel's and also you will save yourself a small fortune!

"Very comfortable - highly recommended"
In London on business - stayed for 2 nights - very comfortable, small bedroom but good size bathroom, small fridge/microwave - air conditioning was brilliant - quiet location (no noise from the underground as often found in Earls Court area) my ideal base2stay when away on business.

"Great location and wonderful way to save money in London"
This was a beautifully-located hotel right by Earl's Court station. The best part for me -- as I'm not keen on spending lots of money at restaurants -- was the small kitchen (sink, microwave, frig, kettle) where I could prepare my own meals. I saved so much money by buying my groceries at the Marks and Spencer, which is about a block away -- and when I could pack my lunch and snacks, I was never caught on my long walks around the city getting light-headed and hungry/thirsty.
The room was exceptionally clean, with free internet, and very professional, friendly staff. I slept well each night as the room was very quiet. I'll stay here again the next time I'm in London.

"Fantastic hotel in a great location"
I stayed at base2stay during a short (3 night) vacation to London. Couldn't have been happier. The room is small, but very clean, modern and efficient -- even comes with a kitchenette -- perfect for snacks, breakfast, coffee/tea, and the shower was great, and has an elevator -- great for lugging baggage. The room was cleaned daily. The front staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel is located just one block from the Tube (Piccadilly & District lines) making it a snap to get anywhere with ease. The neighborhood is great - convenient shops (groceries, drugstore, newstands, post office) and restaurants/pubs. As lively as the neighborhood is, the hotel, being one block from the main street, was very quiet. I will definitely stay here again and recommend it to all of my friends.

"Always slightly nervous when booking in London but would recommend the place to anyone"
base2stay lives up to its name. Ideally set up as a bolt-hole for an overnight stay, or shortbreak, in London. Good location close to Earls Court Tube. Very charming, helpful staff on reception. Spotlessly clean. And the room has everything you need for a comfortable night's sleep, including the kitchen sink. Lots of nearby places for supper or breakfast. Will certainly use it again.

"Best hotel ever!"
Absolutely loved my stay here. the room was lovely and they did a lot with the space they had, it may have seemed like a small room but it was arranged so well it didn't feel like that at all. Actually comes with a little kitchen! Well a sink, fridge and microwave but that's pretty good as is. The bathroom was awesome too. Well worth the money, so clean and modern. The bed was so comfy! Brilliant location too, mere minutes away from Earl's Court station, and surrounded by nice resurants (which the hotel has discounts for). The staff are very very friendly and helpful. Couldn't have been happier!

"Excellent stay"
This hotel offers modern well sized rooms for a moderate price. The front desk staff were helpful and attentive. The room was spotless and well serviced each day. The location at Earls Court / Kensington was close to the tube and only minutes from all parts of London. The mini kitchen facility was great and easily made up for the lack of a restaurant. This is a great base to stay in this big city.

"Precisely what it claims to be: comfortable, thoughtfully designed and excellent value"
Located a street away from Earl's Court Underground, pubs and M&S simply food, this really does offer a secure, immaculately presented and sensible London base - especially if you are spending a couple of days in the capital. No restaurant, and minimal public areas, but a restful and thoughtful restoration of a grand Victorian town house plus part of the adjacent mews: microwave, silent fridge and kitchenette and very well appointed shower room, comfortable beds, wifi direct dial phone and and excellent multimedia TV. Rooms are quiet, the towels are fluffy, the toiletries original. Creative investment in what a traveller really needs gives a sensible near 5 star experience - and if you are in a single room, it's just under £100. And you have the option to hire an electric car......
At last, genuine thoughtfulness and value in a London Hotel....... and there's rumoured to be another one in the offing.

"Loved the place - better than expected"
Kensington is a great place to stay with easy access to everything and vibrant neighbourhood. Base2Stay was an unexpected highlight. The rooms are wonderful - sparkling new with clever built in kitchenettes featuring micorowave and fridge and everything you'll need. The bathroom was as good as any 5 star, beds super comfortable and importantly there was room to sit and relax. At night it was so quiet you'd never guess that you were in a city. There is also a work desk wired with data connection etc.
Staff is helpful and the whole place efficently run. Don't stay here if you want dining room and room service, but if you like the independence of your own kitchen, own dining table and super modern facilities you won't find better.

Close to Earls Court Tube Station (Piccadilly and District Lines) Base2Stay offers great value for the rate. The hotel reception staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are city size, clean and modern, and housekeeping did a perfect job each day cleaning. The rooms have a small fridge and microwave. The beds are totally comfortable and the rooms are quiet. There are several good restaurants and pubs near by for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I would stay here again and would recommend Base2Stay to anyone!

"Top location - great hotel for a few days"
After a lot of research and reviews we booked three nights at this hotel for our first visit to London from Australia. I expected a very small room & was pleasantly surprised as it was bigger than I imagined. Excellent facilities, a fridge! (very rare in the UK) and terrific bed with excellent linen. Super location very close to the tube at Earl's Court & lots of great little pubs (The Blackbird, The Pembroke, etc) and small supermarkets for the bits and pieces that can be used in the kitchenette in each room.
Good advice from staff as to where to eat & transport and a super start to a great holiday. THANK YOU ALL AT base2stay - we'll be back for bloody sure!

"Great hotel for everything"
Stayed for 3 nights. Room was clean and well designed, though it 's small but not a problem. Slept very well without any disturbance and bed was comfortable too. Very close to earls court underground station, which goes to heathrow airport directly with piccadilly line, and the neighborhood was convenient. The only issue was the wifi. It finally worked in the morning of departure. Was told by staff that the internet was down for both LAN and wireless. All in all, a great hotel with competitive rate. I will definitely stay there again.

"Perfect - standard, location, service, rates"
Stumbled across this establishment as I was searching the web for a suitable place to stay for me and a friend on a shopping weekend to London. I was looking for an ok 3* hotel in Bayswater, but when checking into Tripadvisor I was convinced to try out Kensington and base2stay instead. And I'm glad I did!
Nice, friendly and service minded people in the reception - we even got to check in early without any extra charge ( I know this is subject to availability)
The standard of the room was excellent. I can not seem to find anything negative really (and now we're talking about a 3* London hotel) Everything was fresh, nice and clean. Comfortable bed, nice decor, flat screen TV, kitchenette, laaarge tiled bathroom which was spotlessly clean. I was pleasantly surprised of the size of the room, but since we got a handicap room it might be a bit more spacious than other rooms.
It is important to know that there's no breakfast included in the rates (as they have no breakfast room), but I'd rather eat my breakfast at Pret anyhow!
Right around the corner from base2stay is Earls Court Underground station and in the same street are several nice and unformal restaurants (like Wagamama and Masala) so no need really to go to more "central" areas to have dinner.

"Excellent value & great location for short trip to London"
We found base2stay on the Tripadvisor Forum and booked based on the reviews and I must say we were not disappointed.
It is just a 5 min walk from Earls Court Station which connects you to the Picadilly line gateway to much of the best shopping in London. Rooms are compact as are most London hotels but it is spotless, nicely appointed and located on a quiet street.
Bed was super comfy and rooms spotlessly clean. The little kitchen (micro wave, little fridge and kettle ) was useful and M&S have a food store next to the Tube station just a few mins away where you can get a few items in for snacks or brunch to set you up before heading out for the day.
There are also a number of places nearby to catch breakfast i.e. Starbucks, Pastry Shops, Deli's etc.
The hotel also had vouchers for some local restaurants which we used and found them to be really excellent.
All in all a really good experience ...... if you are in London to see the sights or for a few days retail therapy I would highly recommend base2stay.
Nice friendly staff too!

"Better than expected"
I was very pleasantly surprised at the size of the room for a London Hotel. The photos and description are a true representation. We were 3 adults..large king size bed and single..and there was room for us to spread out 3 large suit cases. The kitchen was great for morning coffee and the fridge was handy for snacks and drinks.
The room was very clean. There were great restaurants in the area and the park near was very nice.
The front desk staff were outstanding. We had a medical emergency and they were very quick to provide us with options. I have travelled extensively for both business and pleasure and found the front desk staff to be among the best I have ever experienced.
I would stay here again.

"Great amenities and location"
We had the pleasure of staying here for 3 nights in early september. We had booked a very nearby hotel which we were not happy with after checking in so we ventured out & came across base2stay within 200m!
What a find... The receptionist checked us into our superior king room which had a king bed, mini kitchenette & full bathroom. There was a large flat screen also. We were on the street side of the hotel & didnt find the noise an issue.
The location is great. 20 mins walk to harrods, abit further to buckingham palace and from there the rest of the city is an easy walk.
It was great having the convience of the mini kitchen, easy to prepare breakfast & perfect for take-out too.
There are plenty of restaurants nearby. We had some great thai & indian within 2 streets.
The staff were friendly & the rooms always cleaned spotless.
Will definately stay again whenever we return to London.

"Excellent value for money"
The hotel is in a quiet street, very close to a Tube station and an array of shops and restaurants. It is very clean and the interior looks new and modern. My room was on the ground floor overlooking gated mews, with practically no noise at night or during the day. The presence of the fridge and particularly microwave made the stay more comfortable and cheaper (there is M&S Simply Food 2 minutes away, so you can enjoy good quality cooked food at a fraction of usual London prices). The staff appeared professional and helpful.
Will definitely use the place again when on a business trips.

"Good hotel, excellent value"
Overall, I was very pleased with base2stay. The hotel was very clean and has a minimalist contemporary style of decor. If you want a lot of glitz and glamor out of your hotel, you should probably look elsewhere. If you want a nice, quiet and comfortable atmosphere, then this is the place for you. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The 24-hour concierge service is a nice touch and I recommend using it if you have questions or need travel tips for the city. I opted for a double room so I could stretch out in bed. The bed dominated the room and there was little floor space around, but it wasn't so tight that I had to squeeze my way past anything. The bathroom was likewise small, but not cramped. The bed was comfortable, the linens were clean and the neighborhood was quiet; I managed a great sleep every night. The kitchenette was very useful, as dining out in London gets to be pretty expensive, and you can find good take-away food at the grocery and larger department stores for far less money. If you do use it, you should probably clean the dishes yourself - the maid staff will do it for you, but it was a pretty cursory cleaning and I felt I got a better job done of it myself. My single complaint about the hotel is the free internet service that you can access using the in-room TV. The web browser was way out of date, incredibly slow, and many websites would not open properly. In fact, it didn't take very much for the browser to crash. If you plan to do more than occasionally check your email, I'd recommend bringing a laptop and using the Wi-Fi or ethernet connection. So what is the best aspect of the hotel? Location, location, location. The hotel is only a short block away from the Earl's Court underground station. This puts it not only within walking distance of some good shopping areas, but also the Earl's Court station provides access to three of the most useful underground lines - you can get almost anywhere in only a few stops, often without having to change trains. This is a great hotel and I would both stay again and recommend it to others.

"good hotel, good location"
My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in July and stayed at base2stay because of the reviews on Tripadviser. Usual size room (small) and usual cost (high) for a London Hotel. The hotel was very good but London is ridiculously expensive. The kitchenette was minimal but after being unable to use the refrigerator, sorry mini-bar, in a competitors room, the ability to make basic meals was a thankful relief from eating out. Not to mention the money saving.
The room we had was on the lower ground floor so it meant we had a small terrace with furniture, being able to sit outside in the evening was an unexpected London delight, no view, but privacy in a major city is sometimes hard to find.
The hotel is 2 minutes walk from Earls Court Underground, with pubs, cafes, supermarkets, laundrette all nearby.
If we visit London again we would definitely stay here.

"Could have stayed for a month in this little gem"
I can understand why a previous reviewer was reluctant to let the word get out about this beautiful little hotel--one selfishly doesn't want it to become too popular! We had a family room, for my husband and I and our college age daughter, on the third floor and it was definitely beyond our expectations. Very spacious, high ceilings, 4 huge bay windows, flat screen TV and a nicely appointed bathroom were the highlights. We also had a good sized closet, a safe and a kitchenette. It was quiet at night and the air conditioning ran efficiently. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful, giving us an excellent city map upon check-in and recommending restaurants. The location so near Earl's Court tube stop was perfect. We found it very easy to either take the underground or walk to everything we wanted to do. We had purchased 7 day Oyster passes which turned out to be a good move. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants in the area, you feel like you are in a real neighborhood instead of a business location that clears out at night. We would love to stay there again, a great value for the money. And, by the way, we are very particular about hotels!

"A great place to stay in London"
We chose this hotel for our 4 night stay in London based on reviews on TripAdvisor and our ability to book one room for four people. The hotel is in a great location - a few minutes walk to Earl's Court tube station. Earl's Court Road had a great variety of restaurants and markets. We had an excellent breakfast at Balan's and good dinners at Bistro Benito and Gourmet Burger. I would also recommend the scones at Marks and Spencer! The hotel provides coupons for discounts at some restaurants nearby which is helpful. The hotel was very tidy and clean. The bathroom was a bit small, but the hotel room was large enough. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again on another trip to London.

"Excellent choice"
I was impressed by the quality of this hotel overall. The location was great. Although Kensington is not quite central, it's easy access to most attractions with several underground stations and lines within a few minutes walk: Earl's Court, Gloucester Road... The neighborhood is quiet and upscale with a decent number of options breakfast or dining. base2stay is more about the convenience of apartments than a true hotel so to speak. The lobby is tiny, there is no bar or restaurant. However, the place is very neat, and our room was quite large, very clean with a modern design. Eveything was perfect for the price. Good service at the reception, good sleep and free wifi. Considering hotel prices in London, this is definitely a safe choice in my opinion.

"Everything I wanted"
base2stay provided the perfect start to my trip around Europe. I stayed in one of the single rooms for five nights. For a single room it felt very spacious and the mini kitchenette was terrific (I've missed it in every hotel I've stayed in since). As I'm traveling with a backpack rather than a case I'm used to getting some strange looks when I check into hotels rather than hostels. But all of the staff I encountered during my stay were very polite and helpful. The location is fantastic and I didn't have any trouble sleeping at night (although I was up on the fifth floor which probably helped). I've already booked my next stay and would happily recommend to other travelers.

"Great little hotel in terrific area of London with warm & helpful staff"
We were very happy with the warm and friendly reception we received from the very first contact that we had with the staff. From booking to arrival and throughout our stay the wonderful and very helpful staff were always ready and available to give advice and provide for our vacation needs.
The hotel is centrally located, close to the tube, with easy access to all parts of London. The neighborhood is safe with local markets, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants to choose from. One can walk the streets at any time of day or night and feel like your home. We ate ate several different venues and found them all excellent. A Lebanese restaurant on Cromwell Road was very good.
The room was large by London standards and very nicely decorated in modern design. The hotel was immaculate, although the wood floor in the reception area could use refinishing. the Beds are extremely comfortable and are modular. This allows the room to be configured to your family"s needs.
The next time I return to London I will come back to base2stay. Top notch service in a high quality small hotel. You will not be disappointed.

"AS GOOD AS IT GETS"
In this day and age of fast food and slow service, base2stay is a major exception. After 10 years of traveling to London from Scottsdale, AZ (where hotel and tourism abound) and, this year to London for a wedding, we were in a quandry, as we usually stay with friends. We found B2S on the Internet after multiple searches. Going by recommendations, we decided to take the plunge. Being in property management, we searched for (1) service, (2) cleanliness and (3) location. B2S gets 10 out of 10 from us. From the check-in, to the check-out, all was handled efficiently and with a smile. No request was ever too large to fill. Our thanks go out to Dan Allia, Christine Kranz, Lydia Ndangwe and Lucy Evans for making us feel like family. Particular thanks to Nassir Khalil and Robert Nadler, who took the time to care. Your professionalism shows why this hotel concept is such a success.

"A little gem tucked away from the bustle of Earls Court"
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel thoroughly. I was only in London for 2 nights and was not there to do anything too adventurous or to sightsee, as I had lived in the city for several years before moving away. base2stay was perfectly placed for me to commute between Heathrow and the hotel fuss-free, and also access the shops in the West End to buy a few things before my onward journey.
The hotel itself was clean, service prompt and the room I had, whilst very small, had all the necessities I needed, not to mention a modern, large bathroom with a clean shower unit. The room I was given was on the lower ground floor, but overlooked a quiet mews rather than facing the street, meaning that I had quiet a bit of privacy.
The staff were attentive and polite, and check-in was efficient and quick. There are quite a few hostels nearby, meaning I encountered a lot of students and their luggage as I walked to and from the tube station - however base2stay I would say would be your best bet as it is still very close to the station yet still feels secluded and quiet.
Also nearby, there were plenty of restaurants and pubs, and the hotel is close to a Marks & Spencer Simply Food supermarket where you can purchase all manner of things to eat.
Overall if you are not looking to spend too much time in your room but - as the name suggests - need a base from which to explore London, this is a good choice.

In Room entertainment was adiquate for the time spend there. Internet, Movies, Freeview.
Great value for money. Awesome.

"Very posh for the price!"
This is a great place to stay in London. It is clean and attractive with comfortable beds. Compared to other hotels in this price range that have a city location (Paris, London), it has very good-sized rooms. The bathroom was spotless and the shower really nice (As an American who's lived in England for years, it was nice to be able to bend over and reach my feet in the shower for a change - our home showers are 2' x 2'!) The rest of the room was clean, modern and well-presented. Free wi-fi, air-con and an electric car out back for hire inexpensively - what's not to love. It is a bit far from the center of the tourist areas, which is the only downside. I've stayed in another low-cost (150 pounds or less) hotel in London that was perfect for walking to all the popular attractions (three blocks to British Museum) and that was fun. At Base2Stay you will need to use something besides your feet to get around - but the tube isn't far!

"Great location with good restaurants"
My family stayed for 4 nights. The rooms vary in size and location. We got 2 rooms and one of them was super small and luckily they gave me a larger room after I requested. The staff was warm and very helpful. They have a list of good restaurants with discounts and the food was good, although not cheap. Location was great and the beds are very comfortable.

I am so please with your hotel! The staff made every effort to help us be comfortable and give us sightseeing advice. It is wonderfully clean and quiet. It was so convenient to the tube. The mini-kitchen made it nice to have a cup of tea. I will certainly recommend your hotel!

"Excellent staff"
We were a couple traveling with our teenage son. The hotel has a convenient yet quiet location. Rooms are compact by north american standards, but are well designed. We had difficulties with a/c in one room, and the staff was very helpful trying to solve the problem, and then moved us to another room when it became available, and provided a discount for the other nights. They are all really helpful and they genuinely try to make your stay enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Lovely, reliable base to stay"
We were vacationing in London for the first time so I searched this site for hotels with the highest ratings. I was so happy to find base2stay with so many positive reviews! This really is an excellent mid-range hotel providing all the necessities for resting up before heading back to sight-seeing.
Our room (#108) had a bathroom (big plus already compared to other hotels at this price!) with large modern shower, desk, closet, hair dryer, kitchenette (microwave, mini fridge, sink, kettle, and cutlery and dishes, double bed, and a flat screen TV. The ceilings were very high, which made the room feel much bigger than it was. There was also a large window facing the street. Air conditioning was also a huge plus.
Our room was cleaned every day (including our dirty dishes) and new towels and linens on the 3rd day. Staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful. They provide coupons to local restaurants which was a nice added bonus.
The area is really beautiful and very safe. You are also set apart from the "touristy" areas which for us was a nice break from the crowded hot spots in Westminster/London, yet you are a minute away from Earl's Court station that can take you basically anywhere.
We would definitely book here again.

"Very pleased I found it"
Having lived in London for years - and travelled through since on multiple occasions - I've always been horrified by the cost, service, quality and value for money - or lack of it - in the 'hospitality' industry. As an expat it's been embarrassing to make lame recommendations on where to stay. Finally can recommend this excellent boutique hotel.
Love the minimalist decor - clean, modern & smart. Staff were engaging, polite and helpful and very sharply dressed!
I understand why folks complain re size of room but by London & European standards this is actually quite good and more than adequate. Which is the whole point of the place being a 'base to stay!'
Loved the little kitchenette. Very clean and functional. Bathroom of the double was quite large. Bed a tad hard after 4 nights (hence the one point drop!)
Kensington is a good place to be - on the Piccadily line of the tube connecting from Heathrow into central London without needing to change. Loads of small & larger restaurants & stores - small & large.
I look forward to returning here when I travel via London next time. I think I heard they were setting up elswhere - hope they do. The capital and other parts of the U.K. are in desparate need for small, smart, reliable hotels which don't break the vacation budget.
Thanks!

"clean , contemporary and convenient"
Stayed 2 nights in room 404 on July 24 & 25 and 1 night in room L9 on July 30 2010.
Pros:
- clean! and I'm picky!
- Love the "kitchenette" cabinet with fridge, trash, sink, counter, microwave, kettle, crockery/cutlery.
- super friendly (and gorgeous) staff. Printed my boarding passes, gave restaurant recommendations, arranged, taxis, kept bags behind counter after checkout
- Room L9 had small patio (since sublevel, no view, but nice to have that sense of extra space.)
- Also loved the free internet on the TV to check email, weather etc without needing a laptop or smartphone etc.
- Great location on quiet street, but just one street over from all restaurants/tube, post office, banks, etc. on Earls Court Rd. Somerfield grocery store is right next to Earls Court Tube.
Cons:
- Asked for room with view but room 404 had view of a brick wall. (I didn't pay extra for a view or anything though)
- Room L9 had that great patio, but no chairs or table to utilize it. Such a shame.
- Someone else mentioned a slow shower drain a lower level room and we had the same problem with L9 - water up to ankles. Did not have the same problem in 404.
Recommendations:
If you are looking for something to do nearby, recommend walk up to Kensington High Street (10 mins), visit the beautiful Leighton House and gallery, viewing all the super expensive Holland Park leafy real estate, stop in Waitrose grocery store across street from Holland Park entrance and picnic in the park.

"Great service and location"
We stayed in this hotel for two nights on a family trip to London. As I used to live there, I know the city very well and I can assure you that the location is fantastic: 5 min walk to Earls Court tube station. Even though the area is busy, the location of the hotel itself is in a quiet area, ideal for a nice sleep.
The room was modern and confortable, the kitchenette was compact but complete. The bathroom was great.
It is not cheap, but if you can spare some money, I highly recommend it! It is definitely value for money.

"Nice, clean, central place to stay in London"
I spent 3 nights at this hotel and enjoyed my stay a lot. The hotel is clean and relatively quiet (not situated on one of the main roads) and has a good location (not far from 2 tube stations on picadilly line and within walking distance to good museums). The personnel was very friendly and I liked having a kitchenette in my room.

"Friendly and service minded staff, clean nice room"
Very impressed by the staff. From our check-in to our check-out, they had a big smile on their faces, and were very efficient in the way they helped us out with any problems we might have. There was a small problem with the bathroom sink, and they sent a guy up who fixed it immediately.
The room was clean, and the cleaning people really tidied it up to a point where it kind of felt embarrassing. We did a lot of shopping with bags scattered all over the room. They throw away the bags and wrappings and lined everything up so it was possible to walk around in the room, once again.
3 minute walk to Earls Court underground station.

"Wanted to stay longer!!!"
We only stayed here for one night as we passed through London, what a great find, great location with easy access to Earls Court tube station. Our room was small but immaculate, we appreciated the extremely comfortable beds, and we found the staff at the front desk were very welcoming and helpful. We had tried to book for a longer stay but rooms were not available for our dates but if in London again we will definately book early and stay longer.

The room is clean and modern and the little kitchen very useful for a fast breakfast or for light dinner. The bed and bathroom well organized. the wi fi internet also on TV very useful for tourism planning of the next day.

"Fantastic location and great little place"
Stayed in London for a few days without hubby and kids. Fantastic location for transport connections for sightseeing/shopping and Heathrow, lots of amenities around for food and drink from 'self catering' to top end. Small room but quiet (4th floor) and perfectly equipped and excellent value. Not the place if you want lots of space but if you want convenient location, really good value and very helpful staff the I can't recommend it highly enough - I would definitely go back.

"shush...don't tell everyone!"
I stayed at the base2stay Kensington for 3 days this past June. What a find. I can't imagine anyone could find any complaint in this moderately priced, sparkling clean, well located hotel.
Staff were super nice,, I arrived early and room was not ready, I was offered the use of a washroom to freshen up, and they stored my luggage,, but even nicer, when I arrived back at hotel later in day, luggage was already in room.
Room was small, but perfectly set up. AC, safe, nice new washroom, good shower, and best of all, a mini kitchnette.
I almost did not want to post this review as I want to stay here again,, and I don't want prices to go up!
Close to Victoria and Albert and Natural History Museums, two tube stations , and two larger grocers ( Tescos and Sainsburys).
Totally recommend.

"Great space and price"
Great space for our family of 4. Our 5 and 6 year old had their own beds which they rejoiced at after a 15 day long vacation! The room was spotless and newly renovated. Everything is compact and space is very well used. A tiny little kitchenette is in the room with mini fridge, microwave and dishes and sink. We even has a "patio" area below ground where we sat after we put the kids to bed. Front desk was very helpful with arranging for a taxi and getting us tickets for the London Eye. Great price for a lovely part of the city. Earl Court tube station is right down the road. We would definitely stay here again!

"The perfect place to stay in London"
We stayed at base2stay for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff was warm, friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, with everything we needed. The location is so tucked away that many cab drivers don't know it by name, but the street is quiet and very pretty with gardens all around. And, just two block away are cafes, restaurants and the tube station. We would certainly stay there again!

"Great Location - Central yet quiet!"
This hotel is in a GREAT spot - minutes walk from Earl's Court which is a major tube hub - you can literally get anywhere in London from there.
base2stay is one block from Earls Court Rd which has all the shops you will need to eat, drink and stock the kitchenette in your room for your breakfasts (a great way to save money whilst on holiday - cheap brekkie).
Surprisingly base2stay is so close to pubs and restaurants and a busy road yet there is no noise!
As for the rooms the shower is great and although the rooms are small they are clean and modern.
Great place to stay whilst in London!

"Fantastic Hotel and Awesome Location"
My husband and I visited London for the first time in June this year and spent our 7 nights at base2stay. We had a very pleasant stay and the reception staff couldn't do enough for us. Hotel is located in a beautiful and convenient location and is only a 5 minute walk from the Earl's Court station and Bus stops. Hotel room was a little small but extremely clean. Very comfortable bed and awesome bathroom with a huge shower. Overall excellent standard of furnishings. There are 2 supermarkets nearby and many restaurants which honor a discount between 15 and 30% for guests of the hotel on presentation of a voucher which is obtained from reception. All restaurants were excellent. I would not even consider staying anywhere else on my next visit to London as were were completely satisfied with base2stay.

"Good place to stay"
I had a single room. It was small but adequate, especially since it had a mini kitchen built in (sink, microwave, mini refrigerator, utensils, dishes, cups, coffee maker). My room and the hotel were clean as a whistle. I also liked that the bathroom had a heated towel-drying rack, which made it possible for me to hand wash some clothes and dry them on the rack. (I saw a few other rooms, and some were quite large.)
The location was very convenient as well -- two short blocks from the Earl's Court tube station. And within a block or less from the tube station, there were 2 grocery stores, one on either side, one open until midnight, so I could easily buy some food to keep in my room. And the Earl's Court tube station is on two central tube lines: the District and Piccadilly lines. There are also various bank machines across from the station, a number of restaurants nearby, and a laundomat.
The only thing I did not like about the room was the free TV-internet access. It is not Mac-friendly at all (you cannot log into the Apple website for Mac mail, since this TV-internet has neither Safari nor Firefox installed; and even to search the web otherwise, it is extremely clunky and slow as molasses in January. However, there is free WiFi, so I used my iPod to connect to the internet.

"Great hotel, very clean, well located, recommended!"
Stayed at this hotel with my husband and 6 month old baby in June 2010. Hotel is well located, only 5 minutes walk from the Earls Court tube station. Easy to get to from Heathrow on tube. Lots of restaurants close by. Room was very clean, baby cot was in room on arrival and clean. Small kitchenette was a brilliant help (especially travelling with a baby). We were in a room on the lower floor, but was almost always quiet and peaceful (had garbage bins outside our window which was only downside, so a couple of times during our 3 night stay these were emptied etc, but wasnt too big a deal). Overall this hotel is very well located, and very clean. Highly recommend.

"When in London - stay in this hotel!"
base2stay is a great hotel. We stayed in this hotel for the fourth time and - really if I had any sense I wouldn't tell anyone anything about the hotel and would keep it our special secret because it is so good and so nice. The location is very good for travellers with easy connections to Heathrow as well as to all central locations in London. The rooms are really comfortable and clean. Each room includes a mini-kitchenette and there are supermarkets nearby which makes it so easy to have whatever one wants for breakfast instead of the overpriced breakfasts most hotels serve. The hotel staff is extremely helpful and kind. Having stayed at many hotels in London, base2stay has been our absolute favourite for the past two years. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in London.

"Great place to stay"
It was a wonderful place to stay - although small compared to U.S. standards. There were problems with the air conditioning but the staff did everything possible to fix the malfunction - as well as finding a very suitable workaround with a fan (plus opening the window). The room had a comfortable bed and adequate storage. The hotel is in a very quiet part of London -- but ideally situated close to Earl's Court Tube Station. It is also very close to a large grocery store. There is a small kitchenette in the room which is great. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

"Excellent service, rooms, and location"
I love London! I didn't want to leave! This was my first trip to London and part of what made the experience so enjoyable was having this fantastic hotel to come back to at the end of a long day full of adventure. It was the perfect "home" away from home.
The hotel is a quick 2-minute walk from the tube stop, and is very convienent for getting almost anywhere in London - especially the main tourist sights along the District and Circle lines. Kensington is a beautiful neighborhood with red-brick and all white townhouses, families, young professionals, and lots of school children in uniforms. The streets are not very busy, so you can "escape" from the hectic feeling in other parts of the big city.
The hotel staff was very accomodating and welcoming. We asked probably about 50 questions (afternoon tea, dinner recommendations, travel questions) in the span of a few days - and always with a smile they helped us (even though at that point if I had seen me coming I would have run the other way). Their recommendations for things to do and where to eat were also exactly what we had in mind.
We had free wifi in every room, plus a TV/computer available in the rooms. The kitchenette was great for preparing tea and quick snacks. The bathroom definitely meets American standards. And the beds were increedibly comfortable.
We were not prepared for the changes in weather - since it was summer we were expecting 60-70s, instead it was 40s-50s. The hotel is very close to a pharmacy, which came in hand as everyone in my party got sick from the rain/cold. However, more importantly, we were able to feel so much better with the warmth and comfort that base2stay provided us.
We also had to leave for Heathrow very early in the morning and they reserved a private car for us. The driver was fantastic - very friendly and helpful.
My only concern is that it seemed a little pricey - especially given the exchange rate. But that seems like a standard concern for Americans travelling to London.

"This is a polite and well serviced hotel in a good location for London"
The rooms in base2stay are bright, clean, and tastefully decorated. Our few requests for special service were met with prompt action. The location, near Earl's Court tube station, is handy for two major Underground lines; some of London's most popular touring attractions are no more than fifteen minutes away. The hotel's immediate neighbourhood is genteel without being too posh. Local restaurants with decent value are no more than five minutes' walk, and there's a giant Sainsbury's on Cromwell Avenue only six or seven minutes' walk away. Though the air conditioning system failed for about 48 hours, the staff were so helpful and apologetic that we hardly noticed the flaw.

"An imaginative approach to hotel design"
When you are in a city like London, which has so much to offer, there are certain things you want from a hotel and other things you really don't need. The people at base2stay have figured that out just about perfectly. The room is compact--like many hotel rooms in London--but fitted out with an extremely comfortable bed with really good sheets, simple but soothing design with attractive wood, a well-equipped and spotless bathroom, and a cabinet containing a small refrigerator, a microwave, plates, glasses, corkscrew, and silverware. That means that you can fix small meals--breakfasts, light suppers, snacks--without spending a fortune on restaurants. And there is a great Marks and Spencer market with excellent food, fresh fruits, pastries, wine and beer, etc. within two blocks. The only thing I can think of that is missing is a coffeemaker. (There is an electric water heater which is fine for making tea, but I'm not an instant-coffee drinker.) The staff is warm and knowledgeable and efficient. Location is great, too--just one long block from the Earls Court tube station and with a number of good ethnic restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel. This place is now my model of the ideal tourist hotel, with none of the pointless luxuries of much more expensive places (who really needs a turndown service, for example?) and all of the comforts you could want after a day enjoying the city. Unless you plan to spend all day in your hotel room, who needs more than this?

"As close to perfect as you will find"
I have read several of the other very positive reviews and my feelings can best be described by saying that I agree with everything great that has been written about base2stay Kensington. Location: excellent. Front desk staff: OUTSTANDING. Cleanliness: beyond belief. Comfort: like home from home. Value for price: you won't believe your luck. Don't pay attention to those who whinge about how small the single rooms are - have they ever BEEN in a European hotel room before? If so, was it this beautiful and clean with a staff this good, was it this comfortable and quiet, this conveniently located, and did it have free Wi-Fi, individually controlled A/C, a mini-kitchen and a very spacious, modern bathroom? And don't underestimate the neighborhood - it is really ideal, and being a block and a half from Earl's Court, one of the smallest, easiest-to-navigate Tube stations in London, is a HUGE plus because you can EASILY get anywhere you need to go; add to that, it is safe and easy to walk to all sorts of places from this hotel. base2stay Kensington sounds too good to be true, but it's TRUE. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when I am in London again - I wouldn't even look elsewhere.

"Close to perfection"
Recently refurbished, extremely clean and quiet, located in the very practical district of Kensington, sufficiently far from the noisy Cromwell Rd. My room (single) was rather small, but the bathroom was large, particularly the shower. Welcome desk is extremely dynamic and friendly, probably the most smiling I've ever met in a Londonian hotel. There is no breakfast, but the small kitchen in the room is very clean and practical, or you can enjoy a good and cheap breakfast in one of the numerous cafes close to the hotel.

"base2stay exceeded all my expectations!!! Loved it!!!"
When we were planning our trip I used TripAdvisor to look for a hotel in london. Base2Stay came up and had amazing reviews so we chose the hotel based on the reviews here. I must say that the hotel was even better than we expected!! It was only a short walk (5mins) from Earl's Court Tube station which was on a main line. We were greeted and made to feel right at home, and the staff was very helpful in answering any and all questions we had. Before we arrived I emailed them to request a room with one of the outdoor patios and we got the room!
For those couples that are traveling I HIGHLY suggest requesting room L6. The room was very spacious for a European hotel room, and the outdoor patio made a very nice addition and was perfect for sitting outside and having a drink at night, or breakfast in the morning.
The hotel was also in a great location. I loved the neighborhood because it was a mix of hotels and residential, and a nice area to walk around. We were within walking distance from numerous places to eat and the location of the hotel in London meant we were usually only a few Tube stops from the main attractions.
The only issue we encountered was that our shower drain was a little slow. We notified the front desk and they immediately came to fix it!

"High quality, reasonable price? Look no further"
2 blocks from a major tube stop (Earl's Court), this quiet location is close to perfection. The rooms are 'cozy', but large enough for my wife and I and a great deal of luggage (for 3 months in Europe!), and include a small kitchen with microwave, sink, under-counter refrig, and the needed utensils for 2 people. The AC is some of the best I have seen: easy to operate, quiet, and efficient. Front desk manned by high quality personnel who seem genuinally interested in you, and your welfare. Tho only 5 stories, there is a lift big enough for 6 people, ie it can easily handle your luggage and you. The price for WiFi was certainly right: zero. BUT, and this was perhaps the only drawback, the signal was unstable, and the provider was insufferable, requiring frequent re-logins. There is also an in-room mini-safe.
I have found my place for London, after many years of searching - no need to consider anythiing else.

My girlfriend and I stayed 2 nights and had a great experience. Rooms were very clean and modern just as advertised and depicted on their website (some hotels put very professional looking pics on their websites when in reality the room look nothing like it). Free wi-fi and internet on the flatscreen tv were nice touches. Very comfortable bed!! The weather was very warm and the a/c worked great. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful from things like recommendations where to eat and helping us with directions where we were trying to go to things like helping me verify my flight was on time and which terminal it was scheduled for. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay at a reasonable rate.

The only thing I can recommend is that you take a cab or be absolutely sure you have good directions to get to the hotel. We used the Tube and were only a few blocks away from the hotel.

"Great and quiet stay in central London"
The base2stay hotel in London/Kensington is a very comfortable location. It combines the comfort of a modern hotel with the flair of the historical area. Everything is very clean, the staff is friendly and helpful and it is a great possibility to have a little kitchenette instead of having breakfast, especially as a large supermarket is just 5 minutes away. Also the tube station is just some minutes walk. Despite this central position, the rooms are very quiet, as they are directed to the gardens. We would really like to stay there on our next London visit again.

"Perfect!"
I stayed at base2stay Hotel in London for 3 nights in June 2010.
Everything about this hotel is great! Good location, polite staff, modern and clean room at reasonable rates.
The hotel is located near the Earl's Court underground station, which is on the Piccadilly line and this line is also where Heathrow airport is.. Leave by the Earl's Court Road exit and cross the street. A little to your right is Earl's Court Gardens Road. Go down this road and make a right. base2stay will be on your right about 50m down.
I stayed in room #302 and I only have good things to say about it. It has air-con, free Wi-Fi and it's quiet, comfortable and clean. I slept like a baby every night.
Check in and out was swift and the staff at the front desk are always sincere and polite.
The hotel doesn't have a restaurant. I walked to the Earl's Court station about 300m away and ate breakfast at any of the restaurant or bake shop around the station.
I will definitely go back to base2stay Hotel the next time i visit London.

"Friendliest staff ever encountered in London"
Felt welcome and appreciated as a guest. The reception staff are a dream, friendly, international, always looking for ways to help. They seem genuinely invested in their guests' happiness and seem to like working there.
The rooms are London-sized yet spotless, very efficient, full of helpful tech such as a powerful A/C and quite cosy. Especially liked the shower which has to be the best shower I have ever seen in a London hotel.
This place works. A rare thing. Will return for sure.

"best value in london - our 6th stay"
highest recommended, lowest price on tripadvisor six times!. we look for a place convenient to the tube (1 block away and connects to district and piccadilly lines at earl's court) and it's a straight shot from heathrow. they also offer half day rates when available for folks arriving early or leaving late. there's a large sainsbury or smaller marks & spencers and plenty of places to eat within one or two blocks. each room has a microwave, frig and bar sink - just enough so you can keep breakfast, snacks and drinks. staff is helpful and always friendly. rooms are clean and modern - no quaint archaic plumbing fixtures. better than staying in a higher priced hotel with frills we won't use and paying high prices for coffee and bottled water.

"A good base to stay"
Decided to try this out as was fed up with the lack of AC in the aparthotel I have stayed at on Gloucester Rd over the years. I was in a double and found it very comfortable, spic and span, but there is not a lot of extra space. The cupboard kitchenette was fine although since I mainly use this for breakfast a toaster would have been more useful than the microwave. Likewise some form of coffee maker, even a cone would have been great. The AC works fine as did the Wifi (altho they gave me an outdated code when I checked in!). Staff were helpful. My only negative comments are minor. The hotel is on a quiet back street but Earl's Court is not Gloucester Rd so I tended to walk the extra distance to the latter for restaurnats etc. To counteract that its easier to get up from the Picadilly Line to the road at Earl's Court with bags with the platform-level lift and the ramp above. The remodelling of the building still has traces of those old London hotels with a step or two here and there and a rabbit warren of corridors. That said this is a nice place!

"Great base if attending an event at Earls Court/Olympia"
I stayed at this hotel for 1 night when I was attending an exhibition at Olympia as the hotel is very close by - a short walk from Earls Court tube or a short taxi ride to the conference centre.
The staff - very friendly and helpful. When I checked in I asked them to arrange a taxi for me for the following morning, they told me they would sort it out and a very nice car and driver was waiting for me on time as requested (not just your bog standard black cab).
The hotel and the rooms are nice and modern, with aircon, a nice modern bathroom and decent storage space. Rooms are also equipped with a decent size TV and free internet access. The hotel has also lined up a number of offers with local restaurants so you can get up to 30% discount when dining at local eateries.
Whether I return to London for work or pleasure I will definitely be staying at this hotel again.

"Excellent and good value for money"
We were booked in by our daughter for two nights for a special birthday treat.
The room was spotlessly clean, lovely white towels in the bathroom and ample sized room for us with king size bed. Helpful, friendly accommodating staff who actually seemed to enjoy their jobs and meeting people which is not always the case in the hotel business! A box of chocolates in our room from the staff with good wishes for the birthday was a nice personal touch. We recommend and shall return!

"Perfect base to explore from"
We stayed here for 4 nights with our 11 year old daughter.
Earls Court tube station is less than 5 minutes walk away, in the same area are smaller versions of M&S, Boots, McDonalds, KFC and lots of other pubs shops etc; there is also a small street stall selling fabulous fruit (cheap too)
Rooms were ample size for the 3 of us, bathroom very clean, beds very comfortable, air con much appreciated as it was hot whilst we were there. We had no problem with noise inside the hotel and slept like logs!
The little kitchenette served its purpose and had everything we needed including fridge.
The staff were superb, extremely friendly and helpful and check in and out was quick.
We would certainly recommend this hotel to our friends.

"Great Hotel - Great Location"
This very comfortable Hotel is located only 5 minutes walk from Earls Court rail station and Earls Court for the choice of many restaurants and shopping. Easy access to the tube.Staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms well equipped, very comfortable bed, and although small it wasn't inconvenient. The availability of a small kitchenette being helpful. It was very easy to walk safely around this lovely area with a wonderful enclosed park on the next corner. I would recommend this hotel to those wishing for the convenience whilst visiting London.

"Excellent"
We stayed here for four nights, and we were extremely happy with the experience.
The staff were always very pleasant and efficient. On our last day we weren't leaving London until 4pm, and the staff at the hotel were happy to look after our luggage free of charge for a few hours after check-out whilst we did some last minute sightseeing and had lunch. This was really helpful.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. Everything worked perfectly. The room was small, but it was sensibly laid out and so the size wasn't a problem at all.
We felt that the kitchenette was a really useful addition and big selling point for us, as it enabled us to sort out our own breakfast quickly and cheaply. The free wi-fi was also a nice touch - it certainly made it easier for us to plan our days!
Other reviews have mentioned noise. There wasn't an issue with noise from other rooms at all, but there wasn't much sound-proofing from the hallway. This didn't bother us, especially as we were usually up early, but might be a concern for very light sleepers.
The location of this hotel could hardly be better - it is minutes from Earls Court tube station and within easy walking distance of several of London's major museums including the V&A and the Natural History Museum. There are lots of nice restaurants and cafes on Earls Court Road, so finding a place for dinner was never difficult! We really appreciated the discount vouchers offered by the hotel for some of these restaurants - London is very expensive and we saved a good amount of money by using these.
Initially the hotel can seem quite expensive, but when we compared it to the cost of four nights in the neighbouring Premier Inn, we felt it to be excellent value. The extra costs occasioned by eating breakfast out, paying for wi-fi access etc add up quite quickly and so base2stay comes out on top overall.
In conclusion, we were very pleased with our stay here, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, or to stay here again.

Excellent location near tube, restaurants and shops. Excellent staff and comfortable in every way. Free wireless internet in the room a big plus and also a snug little kitchenette for making breakfast, keeping food in the fridge. Wonderful staff. Only thing to remember is bring a face/wash cloth as not provided (common in England). However there are extra large bath towels and a warming towel rack as well. Exceptional value.

"Excellent hotel in great location"
This hotel is bright, modern and stylish and had a lovely calm atmosphere. We stayed for one night in a superior room which was perfect for our family party. The whole hotel is immaculate, spotlessly clean and really comfortable. Good bathroom and shower. Our room was in the basement so the windows were at street level which meant we had to keep the blinds down for privacy. It wasn't a problem but we did need the air conditioning at night as we couldn't have the windows open. It worked really well though as we could set it at the required temperature. The reception staff were very efficient and helpful and did everything to make our stay comfortable. They even phoned me the day before arrival to check that my booking was correct and made sure that our room was ready so that we could check in early . They provided us with milk for the morning when we arrived back at midnight without any problem. The beds were very comfortable with good quality bed linen. I would have preferred to have feather pillows but admittedly didn't ask if they could be changed. There are plenty of places nearby to eat and we found a really good cafe round the corner for breakfast. We would definitely stay here again but would request not to have a basement room.

We booked at a different hotel and it was terrible. We met some people on a day trip who told us about there hotel, base2stay. We went to this hotel and booked the last room for one night. It was great. The front desk staff was helpful and accommodating. The room was clean and well stocked. if anyone is complaining about the condition of the rooms, they should check out some of the other locations in London. You definitely get what you pay for in London, so don't cheap out.

"Excellent experience"
This is a very low key, comfortable, affordable hotel. From the outside, the building looks more like a private home than a hotel. There is no porter, but there is an elevator. The front desk was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. The rooms were an adequate size--large enough to have a king bed, walking room space and 5 large suitcases. There was a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker and desk in the room. The bed was extremely comfortable which was appreciated after a long day of sightseeing. There is a/c and it worked very well. The only negative thing about the room was the bathtub. The sides of the tub were very high which made it difficult for us to get in or out (We're 62 and 77). The hotel is in a good location with just a 2 block walk to the Earl's Court subway station. There are many restaurants in this area as well. Overall, we were extremely pleased with this hotel and would stay here again.

"Great hotel, great location"
My partner and I had only three nights at this hotel after five weeks travelling around Europe and England and Wales. It was by far the best value of all the hotels and B and B's we stayed in. The location was great and our room was larger than most we stayed in and the convenience of being able to get your own breakfast and possible a light supper was really great. It was a comfortable quiet room with good hot shower (though hob a little high). Our only complaint was that supplies like soap and toilet paper were not resupplied and we had to ask for them. Our request was filled immediately. Staff were friendly and helpful. The other highlight was the convenience of a room for an hour (after checkout) for a shower and change. An absolute boon for those travelling on an evening, long haul flight. We loved it.

"The name of the place is a fair description"
My wife and myself went to London to see Mark Knopfler in concert and stayed 3 more days for leisure. base2stay was just the right place to stay. Easy to reach by tube from Heathrow airport and well communicated for our raids to London.
Beds with good mattresses (essential), a clean bathroom with plenty of warm water, quiet ambiente, really a pleasure (at least room 107). Perhaps we missed some additional sqm but this is the way most of the people seems to live in London anyway.
We will certainly come back to this place if we visit London again. Hopefully soon.

"GREAT place to stay!!"
Really enjoyed our stay at the base2stay. We had a lower level room with a patio. There was 3 of us and we had plenty of room. The staff was very friendly helping us with getting tickets and booking day trips. Also gave us great ideas where to eat in the neighborhood. Loved the area, quiet neighborhood, close to the tube station. The mini kitchen was an added plus. We shopped at the near by Marks and Spencer and stocked our mini kitchen for breakfast which saved on expenses. Definitely would stay here again.

"Great Base to explore from"
Loved base2stay and it's proximity to the Earl's Court Station from which we traveled all over London. The station is around the corner from the hotel. The hotel's A/C worked really well and lots of hot water in the shower. The FREE wireless internet also worked well enabling me to keep up with my travel blog along our journey. There are several fast food restaurants adjacent to the Earl's Court Station. The hotel is in a safe neighborhood and we (4 women) never felt unsafe going to and from the hotel. The people behind the desk were very very friendly and eager to help us find our way if necessary. The beds were not tall enough for us to store our 25" suitcases under them, but there was room to tuck them out of the way along a wall. This is a "green" hotel and the card hotel key goes in a little box by the door to turn on the lights. When you remove the card key, the lights go out. So does the A/C, but there is a button on the A/C panel to push after you have removed the key to keep the A/C on while you are gone. Any questions you have about the operation of the room are quickly and pleasantly answered. Our bathroom was fairly spacious with a full tub/shower. My companions had just a shower but it was a walk in space and big enough to turn around in. The hot water pot in the kitchenette heated water lightening fast and we had brought Starbucks Via with us for a treat in the morning. One bad thing which is not related to the hotel at all...there is a bakery directly across from the train station. My niece drank some bottled apple juice from there and got very sick within about 10 minutes while on the tube. We all ate from there, but she was the only one that had the apple juice. Probably not the fault of the bakery, but just a warning nonetheless. There is a grocery near the hotel...left out of the door, first right and then to the left. It is a large grocery and great for getting a few supplies for the kitchenette. There are no breakfast facilities in the hotel, but the kitchenette does have a microwave and refrigerator. This was also a non-smoking hotel which we appreciated very much! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will definately want to stay there again on a return trip to London next June.

Excellent location just a short walk from Earls Court Underground station and walking distance to the Royal Albert Hall and several of the major museums.
Service from everyone was to a very high standard.
Our room was spacious, modern, comfortable and clean with the added bonus of a kitchen in the wardrobe. It was at the rear of the property and really quiet.
We took advantage of the vouchers provided by the hotel for local restaurants and enjoyed several excellent meals.
All in all this proved an excellent choice of hotel for us and at a reasonable cost.

"Basically...Excellent!"
London is hectic and abuzz with activities..especially so over a bank holiday weekend. We found base2stay via the net and after a thorough background check on TripAdvisor we booked the bunk bed room for 5 nights. Having left my bunk bed days far behind me, I was nervous about embarking on the gravity defying act of going to bed in a 36-year old body, however the hotel had many positives going for it:
*The hotel finds itself close (<5 min walk) to the Earls Court underground station which has direct access (via elevator) to the picadilly line. This is a double bonus as suitcases can easily be dragged onto the underground tube on the way to the airport and there are no connections as the picadilly line goes directly to all terminals of Heathrow.
*The hotel room offers a mini-kitchenette. London is expensive and especially coming from a country whose currency does not exchange at such favourable rates, having the option of stretching that pound is very attractive. There are a wealth of supermarkets around the area and the microwave and fridge in the room allows for healthier alternatives to the fast food outlets!
*The rooms are comfortable but remember this is london, so the rooms are snug. Dont worry, this does not mean you need to boil the kettle in the bathroom or that the towels double as duvets! There is enough for room for 2 adults to comfortably co-exist without resorting to interventions. The bunkbed room had satellite TV with a wealth of British channels to keep you amused and it also allows for free access to the internet. Rooms were cleaned everyday and garbage emptied even thought it was a bank holiday weekend. The only comment I would make is that the top bunkbed needs a shelf or mini storage area, as I wear glasses and do alot of bedtime reading, I had no where to place them when going to bed and the trip down thebed stairs without distrubing the person below is not an easy one.
*The staff are friendly and very helpful. We experienced no issues with service and even though we arrived before the checking-in time, we could drop our bags with reception and found them later delivered to our room.
It's an all round great hotel and offers any visitor to London a comfortable place to base their body and soul!

"Great Place"
Hi fellow Trippies;
We stayed here beginnning in early May for 6 nights, based upon reviews by Trip Advisor patrons.
First of all, this boutique hotel is in Kensington, 2 blocks up the road from Earls Court Station. It is a direct shot from Heathrow, where we bought a 7 day oyster card. The train ride in on the Blue Picadilly line is not the best, as it travels into London, so lots of the local immigrant population inevitably boarded the train.
Once we arrived, and figured out we needed to cross the street and head up the road to reach the Hotel, the hotel staff were super friendly, especially Amy and Cristina.
The first night the shower head in the very small but very nice shower was spraying water out from the sides, which I reported to the front desk and the next morning a new one was instantly installed.
The bed was extremely comfortable and although the room was small, but cozy and modern, it has a 20 foot ceiling with built in lighting that dimmed and that made it feel like a cozy cabin of cruise ship. We had a room on a high floor facing the back, with no view but who cares, and no street noise at all.
The location is good, because as I said, it is up the road from the Earls Court Station where the Picadilly line, a typically crowded city line, or the district line, which carries less passengers and has larger and more modern cars, take you where you want to go in minutes.
The room has free wireless internet, and the TV carries a free internet option as well.
The only complaint is that guests in the hall can be heard before they enter their rooms, so perhaps some noise reduction can be added to the entry of each room.
The Hotel though is in a lovely and quiet neighborhood and resembles a White Victorian Rooming House, very modern yet at the same time quaint. It is definitely worth a stay. Thanks to the friendly staff, you all are the best.

Small, cozy hotel located in Kensington area right outside of downtown London. Convenient to everything! Plenty of dining and shops near the hotel, and the hotel is only a 3 minute walk to Earls Court (tube station) which will get you practically anywhere you want to go in London. Hotel was exceptionally clean, and staff were as friendly as could be. Very accommodating and could always tell us where the best places to visit are. "Excellent value for money"
The base2stay in London Kensington provides excellent value for money. I stayed in many hotels in several European capitals and I can really say the base2stay is one of the best. It is clearly no 5-star hotel, but it is an excellent "home away from home". Fair prices and very pleasant atmosphere - you truely feel as a guest.
The staff has been very friendly, the room has been very clean and very well equipped. Especially the nice bathroom with the power shower as well as the kitchenette with microwave have been a real plus.
The location is very convenient as well, close the Earls Court underground station as well as the bus station with convenient access to Kensington and Oxford Street.

When we visted London one year ago, we noticed base2stay while walking through Kensington area. The positive impressions from outside made us stay there for four days this year. The little kitchen can be used to i.e. prepare some lunch. We enjoyed our stay and can recommend base2stay highly.

"What a terrific place to stay in London"
We stayed for 4 nights and then came back for an additional night before heading back to the US. base2stay is one short block from the Earl's Court Tube station. Rooms vary somewhat in size, our first room slightly larger than our second, but still quite comfortable. The hotel is spotless, very modern and Wi-Fi at no charge!! There is a refrigerator and a microwave, electric kettle with an assortment of teas and coffee. But the nicest part about the hotel is the staff!! All are more than friendly and helpful. It is nice to be greeted with a big smile every time you return. They had a young intern from Australia, Claire, who was an absolute delight! I plan to return to London in October and will not stay anywhere other than base2stay.

"Great location, great staff!"
I stayed at base2stay for a couple of nights only. I arrived on the first day around 2pm and asked the staff about a day tour of the city for the next day. The staff spent over an hour with me and my wife, going over all our options, comparing prices, and giving us advice.
What a friendly bunch of mostly women! They are all as attentive as can be, always greeting us on our way in or out, asking about our day, etc. Felt like family!
The location is also wonderful. Truly a one block walk to the subway station, and a station where we have no problem carrying suitcases around. Two museums are about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, and Harrod's - if you're interested in shopping or just looking - is about a 20-25 minute walk through a beautiful area.
The room was not big, but it made no difference to us because we hardly stayed there. Everything inside felt like new and modern, and a very spacious shower.
They do have free internet, but it's through the TV so you can only use the software that's installed there, not with your own computer. We didn't use that much, or the payed internet to connect to our own computer; too busy sightseeing.
Great staff and great location. Couldn't have asked for more.

"Peaceful little haven with kitchenette, conveniently located"
We were very happy with base2stay. Earl's Court is on the tube line from Heathrow, so it was great place to arrive and crash our first day. Elegant, quiet, safe neighborhood, but short walk to bustling street full of restaurants and shops, Marks and Spencers, etc. Easy location for sight seeing - short ride to the city on the district line. 20 minute walk to Kensington gardens, the V and A, Royal Albert Hall, etc.
The room was cleverly designed in a clean, modern style. Nice baths, well-fitted little kitchenette with all the basics for cooking and eating (no stove, just microwave). Our was the cheapest studio room, but had a nice back terrace with a table and chairs for breakfasting. Didn't hear a peep of noise all night, but we were in the back.
Only cons - the free wifi was a bit clunky to use, wish there a table indoors to sit at for the occasional meals we had. If you are used to huge suburban space you might find the room a bit small, but by city standards it's perfectly fine.

"Great value, friendly staff, well equiped rooms"
Cannot recommend this place enough!
First, let me set expectations. The room was small, and I think the website photos must be wide angle lens. That said, I know there are bigger room types, and I opted for the cheaper end!
Found the place with no problems. For less than 5 pound, you can board at Heathrow and be at the tube station in about half an hour. A brisk 10 minute walk brings you to the hotel. Couldn't be simpler.
Check in was great and painless, thanks to a smiling ginger bearded fellow. Just the right amount of helpfulness without being fake or sycophantic. Perfect.
The room was extremely clean, to a level I haven't experienced too often. It feels like you're the only person who has touched the room. Impressed. The bathroom in particular, gleamed.
Kitchenette was great, and there is a supermarket nearby to stock up. Made for cheap eating! And as a female travelling alone, I have to say the neighbourhood felt very safe even in the evenings. And on that note, the hotel feels very safe, and the reception was always manned from what I saw.
Good wifi access, bit on the slow side, but you can't argue with free!
The bed, the bed, the bed, so comfortable. Quality mattress. A+
Toiletries were basic, but I bring my own, so not fussed there.
No restaurant, but heaps in the area to choose from which I prefer anyway. Try Bencho Cafe for breakfast, a short walk away.
Found the air con system a bit noisy but was relieved to find you can lower the fan speed to reduce the noise. Other than that, the room was very quiet!
I'll be back later in the year for sure.

We stayed here for 7 nights and really loved it. The location was great - only about a block away from Earl's Court tube station but on a quiet residential street. The room was bigger than we expected (the bathroom is larger than our own at home!). The little kitchen was very handy and allowed us to eat in several nights. We were extremely happy to have free wifi - not something most London hotels offer. Air-conditioning was a good feature too though the weather was cool so we just slept with the window open (functional windows is another reason we chose this hotel!).
Overall a great hotel and we were very satisfied with our stay. It definitely deserves all the positive reviews it has received!

"Exactly what you need"
We stayed at base2stay for three nights and enjoyed it. The room (306) was spacious and clean. There was a electricity plug for non-uk-cables what served us basically good for charging mobile phones, camera etc. (but is not working for Swiss 3-pole-cables). WiFi worked also with iphone so the laptop could have a rest... One morning we had no warm water... that was a bit disturbing. The reception was friendly and helped us with buying tickets (London Eye, Madame Tussaud) ahead.
Just a short walk form Earl's Court you are at a good spot to discover London. There are many shops, cafes and restaurants around. We didn't missed the not existing breakfast at hotel and took our latte on the way to the center.

"They live up to their motto - smart concept smart price"
We stayed there for three days and it was excellent.
Pros:
- A block away from Earl's Court station and minutes from downtown London.
- Very quiet and very nice neighborhood even though it's just a block away from the station. All the noise/hassle disappears once you get to the hotel.
- If feels home/want to make it home
- Helpful, cheerful and friendly staff.
- Room was expansive, clean and modern.
- Room comes with a kitchen, microwave and mini-fridge. A great option since the hotel does not offer room service and nicknacks that you don't need in the first place and increases the room rate.
- A close proximity to grocery store (Marks and Spencer/Sainsbury) as well as restaurants/pubs.
- The price was incredibly reasonable for what you get.
Suggestions (No Cons):
- We stayed in room L6 so check:
- The rattling noise when the heater is on.
- The door lock has three settings: setting 1 moves the lock 1/3, setting 2 moves the lock 2/3 ... We couldn't lock it beyond setting 1 so we weren't able to use the privacy setting all the way. Again, the room lock works; just not all the way to get the privacy option.
These are nuances and nothing to fuss about. I have a great attention to detail and the management of base2stay seems to care just as much based on the way this hotel is run and want to know.
Summary:
- It will be my number one destination when I go to London.
- Excellent value and unmatched service for the money.

We were both very pleased with base2stay. It is close to the underground, pubs, food outlets and the area felt very safe to walk in after dark. We would not hesitate to stay here again and will recommend it to anyone travelling to London. Thank you very much.

"Central & quiet"
We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Piccadilly line - a cheap train ride from Heathrow. The hotel staff were friendly and quickly attended to the one small problem with our room. Room size was fine for two people. Blackout blinds were perfect for getting a sleep in after a long flight and there was no problem with noise from other guests. Kitchenette allowed for self-catered breakfast. Can highly recommend this hotel if you want to be close to the tube and looking to avoid the chain hotels in London.

"Perfect London location at a great price!"
I chose base2stay for its affordability and location. This small hotel is located in an affluent suburb of Kensington, just a block from Earl's Court tube station. I learned the tube system quickly and could easily travel to all parts of London.
Hotel is staffed by friendly young people who were cordial and helpful. The room was immaculate! Ensuite bathroom had modern fixtures and lovely glassed-in shower, as well as an electric towel-warmer. Central air and heat kept the room comfortable, and there was a shaded window for atmosphere. Single room was very small but included a kitchenette, hairdryer, safe, and ample storage space.
Hotel was quiet, had top-notch fire safety precautions, a reliable elevator, and reception was manned 24 hours a day. A room key was required for entry to lobby, adding increased security to the building. Maintenance staff were most accomodating.
I would definitely choose this hotel again!.
TRAVELER TIPS: Buy an oyster card for the tube and purchase a pass for one of the hop on/hop off double decker buses. I never needed to take an expensive London cab.

"Perfect hotel and location"
This charming hotel is on a quiet street in South Kensington a very short walk from Earl's Court Underground. The staff were outstanding, willing to go the extra mile to help with whatever I needed. My room was more than adequate for my needs with a mini-kitchen and terrific bathroom with a great shower. Everything has been updated to superior standards, and best of all the WiFi was free.
I highly recommend this hotel and would happily stay there again!

"Well located hotel at a good price"
If you want to stay in London for an acceptable price of your hotel, then choose base2stay. You don't have a restaurant in your hotel, but instead profit of a small kitchen in every room with micro-wafe and fridge. Several good restaurants are in the vicinity, and the Tube station Earls court is reachable in 2 minutes.

We had one night at base2stay following a long flight from Australia. Our basic double room was very, very small but fine for one night. "A gem in a beautiful part of London"
I booked this hotel on the strength of the previous reviews and was not disappointed. Myself and my fiance had booked to see something at the Royal Albert Hall it was within walkable distance and we felt safe walking back late at night. It is in a lovely spot, the staff are lovely and very helpful. The room was great, lovely big bed and a fantastic shower, great idea the little kitchen, the hotel is very close to a Sainsbury's and a Waitrose for snacks. have booked to go back in September.

"Refreshing change in the London budget segment"
When it comes to London you can either pay a premium for one of the chain hotels (and still be disappointed) or end up going low-budget and being disappointed with often run-down, pokey accommodation. base2stay is fairly priced, meticulously clean and my room, although small was really well equipped and recently refurbished. It was very quiet in the hotel and the room overlooked the Mews at the back so there was no traffic to keep me awake. Staff were friendly and helpful and info pack in the room was really useful, providing details of all local services, restaurants etc. Also the location was perfect - 5 mins from Earls Court Road and Tube station, in a pleasant leafy part of the neighbourhood. Some might be put off my there being no hotel breakfast option on offer, and I must admit this could be an issue for longer stays. For the three nights of my stay I had breakfast at local cafes, where the cost was typically under GBP 10,-. Good base when in London and would definitely go back.

"Beautiful, quiet location"
We totally enjoyed our stay at base2stay. When we first arrived, we were given a basement room which unfortunately had a view of garbage cans. We requested to be moved to a higher floor which was done without any fuss. We loved our room - the bathrooms are lovely with a heated towel rack and the mini-kitchen is great. Beds are very comfortable and the location is the best - close to everything but located on a quiet street. Earls Court tube station is one block away. Will definitely stay here again.

"Excellent"
Hotel ideally situated 5 mins from Earl's Court tube (Piccadilly line from Heathrow). Rooms quite small but we don't need a lot of space for a few days shopping/sightseeing.
Staff were lovely, kept our bags both on arrival before our room was ready (& delivered to our room for our return an hour later) and after check out before we left for the airport.
Compared with similarly priced hotels in London, this is a gem!!

"The place to stay in London"
All the reviews in this section are spot on and I won't waste time saying the same things again. Just know that this is a awesome hotel for a great price very close to Earl's Court tube station. There is no place to eat in the hotel but plenty of places to eat in the neighborhood where base2stay is located. You can bring food back to the room because it has a small kitchen area with a microwave, sink and fridge. I highly recommend you stop on your way to the the tube station at Bakers Oven right across from the tube for the best sausage and bacon roll you will ever had warning it is addictive. On your way back to the room stop into Cornish Backhouse right next to the tube station for a awesome pastie to take back to the room. To stock up on groceries stop into Somerfield right next to the tube station for eveything you should need. I have included pictures of the room and places around the hotel for you to see. I really recommend this hotel.

"Everything they promised...and more"
From the moment we entered the lobby we were treated like old friends. We arrived in the morning after a long flight and though our room was not ready (as we expected at that hour), we stored our bags, were given a coupon for a local breakfast restaurant and had a great first meal. We stopped by after breakfast to pick up a few things and lo and behold, our room was ready! A short nap and we were on the go...with great advice and services from the staff. Room was smallish, but very well put together. Shampoo/body wash in one was not my favorite. I will definitely stay here again and have recommended it to my relatives who live in London and are always having guests/visitors. Did I mention that it's an easy Tube ride from Heathrow? No transfers and no stairs. A big plus after a long flight! Also in a very nice neighborhood with everything you need and a 3 minute walk to the Tube.

"Will definitely be our base in London from now on"
This hotel is a really good find. We came to London for 3 nights and were arriving at 10.30 am. I rang the day before to ask if we could leave our bags until check in time. Told no problem. When we arrived our room was ready so we could have a wash and brush up and a cup of tea before we set off for the V and A. Staff are friendly, efficient and accomodating. Room and bathroom were spotless. Serviced every day.
Very convenient for Earls Court Tube, less than 5 mins away. Sainsbury's just round corner for stocking up on essentials to use in the mini kitchen. For eating out try Benchos, brilliant breakfasts, Also the Blackbird pub, Their House pie is wonderful, venison in rich gravy but they do a whole range of others. Beds really comfotable hotel, very quiet on the whole and the area surrounding the hotel felt very safe. Would thoroughly recommend.

We recently stayed at base2stay on a ten day trip to London. We could have stay at any of the American hotels(Holiday Inn, Best Western, Marriott) but looked at your site and decided to try a hotel with a European feel. We are really glad that we did. The rooms were excellent, nice layouts, great beds. But the staff of this hotel was what made are trip so special. They had great answers and suggestions for every adventure we wanted to do in London.
The restaurants they recommended were excellent and so close to the hotel. All in all just a super place for any traveler....thank you trip advisor and a very big thank you to base2stay!!!

"base2stay in 2006"
I stayed at this hotel in summer 2006, me and my friend stayed there in a twin room, it was nice and fit, new bathroooms, flat tv screen with internet connection, great staff, helpful and friendly. One problem that everytime we came in a taxi we could not spot the hotel from the first time due to the small sign for the hotel. I would recommend this hotel for who never stays at the hotel, just sleep, shower, and go out.

"base2stay can't be beat!"
Everything about our stay at base2stay was excellent, from the first telephone call to inquire about reservation (the 800 number from the US is extremely helpful) to our departure. The hotel is everything we had hoped for-outstandingly clean, attractive and quiet. The mini-kitchen was an added plus. Everything one would need for a quick snack or a meal was right there, ready to use. The office staff was caring and concerned that we had everything we needed, especially Ashley. The location of the hotel was exceptional, only a three minute walk from the Earl's Court Tube station. An added bonus-coupons from local restaurants which saved us from 15 to 30% on meals...great restaurants and super savings.

"Really is a great base to stay"
Our first visit to base2stay was influenced by its proximity to the Royal Albert Hall and its review on Trip Advisor. It was excellent. The service was friendly & efficient, the room was pretty and spotless (we had a cute patio garden) and it was minutes from Earls Court & Gloucester Road tubes so it was very handy. The hotel had some great touches like Fairtrade & organic teas/coffees & sugar; great shower; discount vouchers for local restaurants and use of internet.
We slept well and really enjoyed our stay, we would definitely go again and recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in this lovely neighbourhood.

"Good location, efficient friendly staff"
I spent a night at base2stay with my wife and young daughter in the lead up to Good Friday.
We arrived slightly early although the room was ready so had access to the room straight away. The reception staff were polite and efficient and check in was pretty quick. The room was well-equipped although the bathroom had only a shower - no bath (better for my daughter). After speaking to reception they quickly found a room with a bath and we transferred.
Generally, I found the hotel to be smart and clean and the addition of a fridge/microwave/sink in the room is very welcome - particularly when travelling with small children.
If I was looking for a negative, the rooms are not the largest out there.
Would use again.

"Fit for a King!"
From the first second we were made to feel totally welcome. The room was great (with a nice large bed), very clean and quiet, with a good sized bathroom and great shower. The microwave, sink and cutlery in the room was very useful and yet hidden away so neatly that initially we didn't even notice them. The Air-con worked fine and the very long curtains and blinds kept the room as dark as we wanted. Another plus was the free internet access via the TV and wireless keyboard. Our only small gripe was that the safe in the room didn't work, but they tried to mend it within a few minutes of us letting them know (the mtce guy even offered to come back a minute or two, but we were on our way out). No problem really as the reception had a safe and I could leave my camera there.
The Hotel itself is very close to Earl's Court underground station (perhaps a 3 minute walk?) which also means you can get everything you want from the local shops...some being open almost 24 hours.
The hotel's title fits it perfectly, 10 out of 10 from both of us. Highly recommended.

Like many others, I picked base2stay Kensington based on the many good reviews from TripAdvisor. I was not disappointed. The reasonable price, close proximity to Earl's Court tube station (which provides direct access to Heathrow via the Piccadilly line) and free internet access was exactly what I was looking for. I would definitely stay here again!

"Great hotel find in London"
base2stay is a great find in London. It's near the Earl's Court tube, and it's reasonably priced (for expensive London). The receptionists are helpful and polite (and available 24 hours), the phone charges even back to the US are very reasonable, it has free wi-fi, it's wonderfully quiet, and is very clean with modern fixtures. Although the rooms are somewhat small, they are not atypical for London, and I didn't consider this to be any kind of disadvantage. I shall return!

This was my second time to stay at base2stay and I can't say enough about the hotel. It is in a fantastic location, literally 2 minutes from the tube with lots of convenient shops close by.The standard of cleanliness is superb and all the rooms seem to be a good size. I love the fact that you have a kitchenette where you can make a cup of tea or coffee in comfort. The rate is reasonable, especially for London which I find can be expensive enough and the staff are very helpful.

"Nearly flawless"
A perfect business hotel, and I dare say that leisure travellers would like it to. It's just two minutes off Earl's Court Road and the tube station but is quiet enough for a perfect night's sleep; the wifi is fast and free; the room is very comfortable and the air conditioning/heating panel actually makes a difference, unlike in most hotels in the capital. My only complaint is that the price I booked for turned out to be a bit more than the hotel's website advertises on its front page, but that's largely my own fault for not checking. However this was more than made up for by the fact that there are no hidden extras - something some of the so-called luxury hotel chains could learn from - and a perfect room for getting a good night's sleep and getting a bit of work done. For a solo business traveller I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

Amazingly good value, and so very comfortable and quiet. I stay one night most weeks and feel very much at home with the warm welcome from the helpful, friendly reception staff. Occasionally use the kitchenette; well equipped yet neatly out of sight. Only downside being that rooms can get booked up quickly and there's no room available. Otherwise, as good as it gets in London.

"Great facilities"
base2stay exceeded my expectations. I did research on trip advisor prior to booking and thought the hotel was much nicer than people described. Although my single room was small and in the lower level it had a large window, plenty of light and was not at all cramped. The desk staff were helpful and the hotel was impeccably clean. The only complaint I do have is the room had a vent blowing cold air through the night, I tolerated it well, but by the morning it was quite cold. I am will most likely stay here again on my next trip to London!

We had a comfortable stay with a shower that actually worked well unlike other places on our stay. The different green initiatives were different such as using your key card to control the power in the room but well thought out. Having a small kitchenette area helped as we visited the local grocery store not far away and were able to make small meals to save money. Best part was the quiet neighborhood and close access to the Underground, which makes getting around London a breeze. Would definitely stay again.

"Experience traveler says this is the best value in London"
I have been visiting London and Europe three to four times per year for the past 15 years on business. I research my accommodations well before each trip and have stayed at dozens of hotels in and around London. base2stay Kensington was a pleasant surprise and is now at the top of my best values list. The location is incredibly convenient: £4 and 35 minutes from Heathrow Airport on the Underground to Earls Court (Piccadilly Line). Then a 10 minute walk from Earls Court Tube station to the hotel on a quiet street and through an upscale neighborhood which seemed very safe late into the evening hours. The Piccadilly line provides very quick and convenient access to Central London and theater district. The hotel is professionally run, providing the best service I have experienced at a UK hotel. Rooms are small, but with very efficient layouts, newly renovated, and very clean. Bed clothes and mattress seem brand new and extremely well laundered. Each room is provided with a complete mini kitchen, with sink, cook and dinnerware, mini frig, microwave, and electric tea kettle. My room was on the ground floor (easily accessible option for the elderly) and was very quite throughout the night. Biggest plus are the room rates (my single room was £106.00 or US$159 per night), combined with free internet rates this as the best value in London in my book. Be aware that is very common to pay twice this price for half the value in London. base2stay is a great find.

The hotel is sleek, very minimalist in design and meets "green" tourism standards. Extremely clean, modern and comfortable.

"Couldn't ask for a better place to stay"
I chose base2stay Kensington based on reviews at TripAdvisor and was not disappointed (booked a deluxe room -- stayed in room G4, which had a wonderful view of a garden area at the back of the hotel). The hotel was very well maintained, had a pleasant decor, and the staff were exceedingly pleasant and helpful. The room was bright and airy, and was larger than I had expected. It fit my needs perfectly for my three-night stay. Its location was convenient to both the Earl's Court and Gloucester Street Tube station, meaning there was easy access to anywhere in the London metro area. One reason I chose the hotel is its free wifi access -- it worked perfectly. When I return to London I will not hesitate staying again at base2stay.

The location was very convenient, near the Earl's Court tube station (Circle, District, and Picadilly lines, and on the direct line to Heathrow) and near several supermarkets. I shopped at the Marks and Spencer right by the tube station and had a nice breakfast in my room each day, using the kitchenette. The desk recommends several restaurants in the area that give discounts to hotel guests, though I didn't get a chance to try any of them. If you are sensitive to noise, you might want to ask for a room facing the back, as I was on the first floor in the front and found it a bit noisy in the evenings (until 10 or 11 at night), although the street is not a busy one. Aside from that minor point, I can't say enough positive things about the base2stay. I will certainly stay here again on my next trip to London.

"clean, modern, reasonably priced, convenient location, perfect for a city break"
We stayed here for 3 nights during half term. Great location - very handy for jumping on the tube, or walking to Kensington gardens the or museums. Helpful reception staff gave us a map and pointed out local amenities, including supermarkets so we could stock up our mini kitchen. The fact that there's no breakfast was not a problem - coffee making facilities, and a fridge in the room. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance. Free internet on the TV screen (which we weren't expecting). Everything was clean and well kept. The only downer was that there was no hot water for the last half an hour of our stay, so my partner didn't manage to shower (but we told reception on our way out and they apologised - they had been carrying out maintenance which had affected it).
Didn't find it noisy at all - in fact we didn't even hear any other guests. There was a bit of noise from traffic from 7am onwards, but it's not a busy road, and anyway, it's central London!
It's not a 'character' hotel, but it's clean and new, reasonably priced and it has everything you need for a city break. We would stay here again.

"Wonderful hotel!"
We were very pleased with base2stay and were happy that we choose it for our trip. The price was very reasonable for this cute, boutique hotel. The rooms were comfy and I really liked the small kitchenette, it came in very handy. Internet was free, which was great and you could access it through the TV, but I found that using my laptop was easier in general. The hotel staff also recommended an amazing restuarant for my birthday. Altogether, we were very happy and woud definitely stay again.

"The best modern, simple and cool hotel in Kensington"
In London, our favorite hotel is hands down BASE 2 STAY. Each room has a kitchen equipped with fridge, microwave and utensils. Not to mention the oversized bathroom. The hotel location is superb. Literally 5 minutes away from Earl’s Court (where we exhibited) and 2 minutes from the tube. The are so many restaurants in Kensington Garden that it’s not hard to find a decent restaurant. Our favorite is Masala Zone! And with a kitchen in our room, we were able to do a bit of groceries at Mark’s & Spencer (located a block away) and cook in our room. That helped save us a ton of money, especially when visiting for more than a week with our USD currency against the British Pound £.

"Great hotel, wonderful location - would stay there again!"
base2stay is a wonderful place to stay in London. It is <5 minutes walk from the tube, the staff is ever so helpful and the hotel is super-clean. I stayed in a single room and the bed was extremely comfortable and the room had everything I could possibly need and more. It is well priced for London, as well. The friendly staff catered to my needs and were very professional. The room has internet accessible from the bed (tv / internet are interchangeable and there is a remote keyboard). After spending loads of time in London's pubs, it was great to peruse the internet from the comfort of my very comfy bed! I highly recommend this hotel!

"Very comfortable accommodation near tube and popular London attractions"
I selected base2stay based on reviews from tripadvisor and I was not disappointed. I was very happy with my accomodation. The room was small but I expected it to be small based on reviews and photos. I was happy as long as I had my own bathroom which was a nice size. The room was quiet and comfortable. It was only loud when other guests went out and the door slammed shut behind them. I think that is just how the doors are. It is heavy and when it closes, it slams shut and creates a loud noise. Other than that, the hotel staff was very friendly and helped me out when I needed directions. The hotel is in a really great location near the V&A museum and national history museum. I like the location because it is so close to earls court tube, about a block away and its not surrounded by lots of tourists like leicester square.
Overall, I would definitely recommend base2stay to others and would come back again the next time I am in London.

"Excellent Mid Price hotel in residential heart of London"
Found this hotel through trip advisor and was expecting a comfortable and clean hotel in london for a good price, for myself and my family on a vacation in London. No high expectations on the room size.
Could just confirm that a base2stay lived up to those expectations by far, The rooms are not big, but its clean, new, cosy and comfortable. A plus is Kensington and the residential area that the hotel is located in. Even though there are a lot of hotels in the area, it still feels like you live among locals. It is also convenient located, 5 minutes wak from the subway and piccadilly line to go right in to the city or to and from Heathrow.
Although the service level is not high, the staff makes the best out of it. Friendly, efficient and tries to find solutions. For instance they have a number of restaurants that are recommended and where you have a discount as a base2stay guest.
So I only have good things to say about this hotel.

"We loved it"
Location was great, a nice residential area only 5 min walk from the high street and Earls Court Tube from where it was only a short ride to the West End. There were several restaurants and food outlets local.
The room was lovely. Really clean and nicely decorated. It was a very calm and relaxing place to return to. Lovely bed linen and the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Good quality hair dryer and free internet through the TV. The mini kitchen in a cupboard is a great idea. Much preferred having breakfast in the room and with a M&S simply food at the end of the road it was easy. It would have been nice to have a toaster but I'm guessing that the reason they don't have them is due to smoke detectors? There was a huge range of local restaurant food available for delivery to the room.
The staff were really friendly, efficiant and unobtrusive. We were able to leave our luggage at the hotel early and spend the day sightseeing before returning to check in and our luggage had been placed in our room. Room was cleaned really well each day while we were out in the afternoon. The public areas of the hotel are all spotlessly clean and tidy.
I will definately be using this hotel again for any future leisure trips to London.

Great location, clean and nice big room, big TV, close to almost everything you might need and i loved the small kitchen with the microwave! that means you can have a hot meal anytime you want! no more cold take outs!
The only reason i might not stay there again, is that i won't get an available room!

base2stay is an excellent hotel. We don’t even think of choosing any other hotel when we come to London. This was our third visit to base2stay in a year. The location is super, the rooms are really clean and comfortable and there’s no noise from the street. The mini kitchenette is a great idea.

"Simple, great place to stay"
I really liked this hotel. It's basic, with a small lobby, but very clean and modern. The bathroom was quite modern, with a great shower (no tub).
My room was small and compact, but the queen-sized bed was comfortable. It also had a small kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, and fully-stocked dishes, etc. I value that because I get tired of restaurant meals all the time. Great to have free internet. It was quiet and peaceful.
Staff were quiet helpful and efficient, with restaurant recommendations, holding luggage, etc.
The location is ideal. The neighborhood is beautiful for a walk, or it's close to Holland Park. I liked that it's so close to the Tube station and to shopping, restaurants, etc.
The only downside is that there are lots of stairs, which are the result of connecting townhouses to make this hotel. There is an elevator, but some rooms still have a few steps up or down to get to them. That's fine for me, but if I'd had a lot of luggage or if I were older and unsure on stairs, I might consider someplace else.
I would absolutely stay here again and I'd love to see them open up more base2stay hotels in other cities.

"Simple but modern - great location and staff"
My colleagues and I chose this boutique hotel to stay in for a week-long business trip.We stumbled upon it online and it looked like a cute and modern place, which it totally was. The staff, including the charming Tony (the operations manager) were so friendly and extremely helpful and accommodating. As a small boutique hotel, it had a very homey feel. It is new and very modern and sleek, though simple at the same time.
I stayed in a single room, which was very small, but that's normal for Europe. Each room has a little kitchenette -- I loved being able to store food in the fridge and warm it up in the microwave later. The bathroom was also very clean and modern, though the water in the shower didn't always stay as hot as I wanted. The room had a nice flat-screen TV. The only problem is that you couldn't swivel it, so it was hard to watch it from the bed. But renting movies through the TV was only 2 pounds -- a total steal, so I definitely watched one. The room comes with an ample desk and free wifi, which was an awesome feature. The bedding and decoration in the room was clean, white, crisp, and contemporary. The bed was comfy.
The location was great, too. Earl's Court tube stop is just a few minutes' walk away. So many cute restaurants, pubs, and boutiques within very close walking distance. If you stay here, eat at Zizzi!
The only main downside is that there is no bar or restaurant in the hotel, so they don't offer breakfast. But there are so many cafes nearby that it's really not a problem. Overall the stay was really great and easy.

"Great neighborhood, friendly staff, a perfect base to stay in London"
The hotel room was spotless, and we loved that it's an award winning green hotel. The underground is minutes away (and it links directly to Heathrow Airport, too) making it an easy way to get around London, especially with kids. We traveled with our 12 year old vegetarian daughter so the varied choices of good restuarants nearby was a plus. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We will return to Base2Stay on our next trip to London.

After reading all positive reviews, we decided to stay there, and we were not disappointed. "FANTASTIC!!!!"
This was my first trip to London and I couldn't have been more spot on than to chose this hotel as it was a business trip. It's located close to 2 underground lines, one of them being off of High Street. It was easy to get to and from the airport. It's easy to get around London from here. The rooms are modern, clean and at the end of the day I looked forward to going there. Plus the staff is friendly and helpful. The main reason I chose this hotel was the attention the management gave small complaints on Tripadvisor. People are always going to complain about something but they all got a reply from the management and I thought that was unusual.....like someone actually cared!

"Been to London over 20 times, stayed in a dozen hotels - this is the best ever!"
The typical non-luxury hotel in London is at best plain and at worst dumpy, dirty and in a yucky neighborhood. Believe me, in my 20+ trips to London I've experienced more than a few! base2stay has somehow managed to break the mold. It is well located just off Earl's Court Road (a five minute walk from Earl's Court Tube which has direct service to Heathrow on the Piccadilly Line), is bright, modern, immaculate and staffed by professional, helpful and hip associates. The rooms are small, as you'd expect in London, but well equipped with modern baths, flat screens and tiny closet kitchenettes. The kitchens alone are worth a lot - if you've ever spent $20 on breakfast in London you'll appreciate being able to have cereal in your room. Easy walk to major museums and shopping streets, longer but pleasant stroll to Knightsbridge and Chelsea. All in all, a great hotel for the money. I go to London at least twice a year and will never stay anywhere else.

Very good location, 5' walk to Earl's Court underground station, clean and spacious rooms, good facilities (kitchenette, TV internet, small fridge). The staff was very polite and eager to help 24/7.
The only problem was some trouble with the air-conditioning on the first night, which was solved immediately. We were even offered another room.
Good value for money.

"Wonderful stay in Earls Court"
It's been 9 years since we went to London, always too pricey. But we found this gem after reading about it in the New York Times. Got a KING room for 132 GBP. Super hotel, super clean, modern, loved the kitchenette to keep our budget in line.
The staff was overwhelmingly friendly: kudos to Tony who runs the place.
Right up the street from the Earls Court Tube.
This should be your home in London.

"Great base"
Room was small (there were three of us in one room) but spotlessly clean. The kitchen sink area was a great idea- we bought cereal and yoghurt so we had breakfast each day. It was great to have free internet access through the TV also. It's a couple mins walk to Earl's Court tube and there are cafes and grocery shops on that street also. It's perfect if, like us, you just want somewhere to drop your bags, sleep and freshen up but not if you want to spend time in the hotel during the day as there are no bars/ extra facilities in the hotel.

Travelled with my family (partner, two children 12 & 8) for a one night London stay as a treat.
Had a large room sleeping all 4 of us, large double & double sofabed for 199 pounds.
Spotless room in basement facing the front, perfectly quiet.
Very friendly and efficient staff who offered discount vouchers for local restaurants. We took advantage of 20% off Wagamamas.
Little kitchen useful for making own breakfast.
Probably the most comfy bed I've ever slept in a hotel (and I travel a lot with work)!
Great place to stay, and I shall use it for work trips in the future as well.

"Excellent"
Stayed at the "base2stay" Feb 2010 for a theatre trip. Hotel ideally placed with a 5 minute walk to Earls Court underground station, no problem finding it. The hotel was a very pleasent surprise when we first saw it not your normal B&B style frontage (modern).
Staff on check in, very friendly and polite.
Room although we were on the ground floor was quiet,
Spotlessly clean.
Small but perfectly formed and well equiped , fridge , microwave etc.
Good modern fittings and a huge shower .
Only downside was the heating system which works through the aircon and hums in the background and could keep you awake(no problem, turn it off)
I was also woken at 0700 by the wheely bins being put out over the cobbles at the rear of the hotel.
A huge and very comfortable queen sized bed. Linen actually smells freshly laundered.
We would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to friends.

"No frills but not basic"
Like many recent reviewers, I found base2stay to be perfect for my needs of a single night stopover. Having said that, I would also consider it for a longer stay, but perhaps not longer than a week. For this kind of stay I like not paying for gyms, pools and spas for other guests, not paying for too many uniformed staff, not paying for parking, not paying for a bar or restaurant for businessmen on expenses, in other words, getting the same consistency of standards while not paying for all the inessential nonsense that comes with the middle ranking chain hotels. You don't get any food, but you do get the kitchen facilities to allow you to make a reasonable meal in (fridge, microwave, separate sink, cutlery, plates and glasses) and it's very handy for a huge variety of eating out options, plus you can order food from a number of places to be delivered if you wish.
I had a single room which was very clean, quiet (I specified this on booking), compact but not too small and would happily use base2stay again. Recommended for no frills but not basic accommodation in a good location.

"Clean, quiet, new, comfortable combined with a good location"
My mother, my girlfriend and me stayed at the beginning of February for 2 nights at the hotel. base2stay is less than 5 minutes from Earls Court tube station which is very convenient if you go by tube to Heathrow (takes 40 mins). The hotel location is good, not far from the shopping area around Harrods and Sloane square, but every time you need to go to the north/north-east, like Oxford Street you will most probably change at Green park tube station, and there you have an underground walk of 5+ minutes between stations.
The hotel itself is located at a relatively quiet street, the area is good.
We stayed at the 5th floor, the last one. There were only 4 rooms I think, we occupied 501 and 502, single and double rooms. 501 is next to the lift, but my mother said it was pretty quiet. On that matter, there were 16 rooms on ground floor and 18 on lower grand or vice versa, I am saying that because I had a bad experience with a ground floor room in a hotel I tried 3 weeks ago.
The receptionists were extremely kind. They charge you at the end of your stay but they block the amount for your stay on your credit card at check-in.
The rooms were very clean, and looked fresh and new. The double bed was big enough and comfortable, although one of the sides was next to the wall. The rooms were bright enough. You have the most important that you'll need for your stay in the room: hair-dryer, safe, flat tv with free games and internet plus 1500+ movies for 2 pounds the movie, kettle with tea and coffe... There was also free wi-fi but usually the connection is slow during the evening so voip calls via pc will be possible only during the day (in my case the morning), they offer faster internet connection, but paid at about 8 pounds per day I think.
No breakfast facilities. Overall 4.5 out 5, -0.5 for the slow free wi-fi.
I definitely recommend base2stay, with preference for the 1st and above floors.

"Perfect for London getaway"
base2stay in Kensington was exactly the type of accommodations I was looking for, for our 5 day London getaway. Off the beaten path in quiet Kensington, very close to Tube, stylish with all modern amenities - hello, heated towel rack! Room was small but very cozy and we had a king size bed, plus kitchenette with microwave, sink, spotless dishes and cutlery and fridge, which they cleaned every day. Free wifi was a major plus. Only complaint was our flat screen TV had volume issues - kept fluctuating. But that is very minor and can be fixed easily. I would, without a doubt, return for my next London stay. So happy I stumbled upon it on the web.

"Wonderful place, neighborhood feel, perfect!"
We stayed here with our 16 and 19 year old sons. We had one larger room and a medium size room with a door area that could close off to make the rooms connecting. There was plenty of room and enough privacy for all. Rooms were nice but not overly plush. The hotel is close to the tube (one block) which we rode everywhere and was very convenient. The neighborhood also had several good restaurants (we ate breakfast almost everyday at Balan's-felt like the staff there were our old friends). Also ate at Strada's and loved Blackbird (pub on the corner-adorable and delicious). Overall a great value and perfect for our trip.

"Smart, comfortable and most of all a great value"
Let the reader of this review understand the type of traveller I am, so that he can then guage my review as he sees fit. I believe that the best way to encounter a city/region is to experience it almost as a local does. I journey throughout a city, mostly on foot, absorbing its culture, smells, and food. By the time I return to my lodgings, I am not interested in a "cookie-cutter" restaurant, cheesy piano bar, or 50 square foot "fitness center".
base2stay is exactly what the name implies. It is a clean and comfortable retreat to recuperate from a day's explorations. The rooms are somewhat small by American standards but so are all the overly-priced chain hotels in London or Europe in general for that matter. The hotel is situated far enough away from the major streets to be a sanctuary from the bustle of a 24 hour city like London, but it is literally a 5 minute walk from the Earl's Court tube (subway) station. By the way, the Earl's Court station is an item of note because it is an interchange to most of the major tube lines throughout London. This saves the headache of constantly switching trains to get where one wants to go. Another note on location; there are excellent pubs and restaurants in the area as well as a small grocery store. In fact, the hotel staff will be pleased to give any guest discount vouchers for select local eateries. The room had a modern feel with tiled bathroom floor and heavy-glass shower. The king size bed is not a single king size mattress, but rather two twins on a king frame. This was initially a concern for me, but when I lay in the bed I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the mattress cover that joined the two mattresses. It was almost impossible to distinguish that it was not one mattress. The mini-fridge and the microwave both worked very well. My stay was in late January so I am unable to testify to the air-conditioning, but the thermostat controlled heating worked very well. The staff is gracious and were more than willing to help me with directions, recommendations, transportation, and local knowledge. There is an elevator in the hotel, but there are several steep steps outside. I mention this for those guests with disabilities that may preclude them from using stairs. I heartily recommend base2stay without inhibition for both its smart concept and superb value.

"A great find"
Whilst not slap bang in the centre of London, base2stay in Kensington was perfect accessing the Olympia & Earl's Court. A 3 minute walk from the Earl's Court underground station, this gorgeous 'apart hotel' is on a quiet, partly residential street. I had a double room (which grant it was small - but gorgeous) to the back of the hotel with en-suite shower and a 'kitchen in a cupboard'! The hotel & room was spotless, very welcoming with extremely helpful & pleasant staff. There is a variety of restaurants within walking distance or you can bring food back to have in your room. The city centre is about 10 minutes away by tube & there is a direct (35-40 minute) line to Heathrow. This was a business trip but I would have no hesitation coming back for a week end/mid-week break & would look forward to it. I couldn't recommend base2stay highly enough.

"Great service, safe and convenient location"
stayed for 6 days in bunk room #G2, which was comfortable, efficiently laid out, cozy but airy due to tall ceilings, and located in the back of the building, so generally quiet. more room than i expected, but then again, my sister and i are petite and it might be on the smallish side for taller folks. loved the location - close to food markets, shops, banks, transit (piccadilly line goes to EVERYTHING), and in a safe neighborhood. appreciated the friendliness of the staff, even in the early AM hours when jet lag continued to well, lag; and in general, from the booking of the trip to check out. discount coupons for local restaurants helped with our budget. loved that our room got serviced daily, regardless of the request sign being posted or not: small things like that made a difference when returning 'home' from long days of sightseeing. the lovely staff even washed and put away our dishes - they're stellar. if i have to be critical, there were only minor things like the caulking on the shower door needed replacing; or, that paper towels would have been nice to clean up, but it wasn't really necessary because the room was always serviced; and, free wi-fi was a little spotty and browsing internet from TV to do research was cumbersome (combination of using keyboard and a separate remote to mouse around). as long as the rates are remain reasonable, i will count base2stay as my home away from home.

"Great location & facilities for a home away from home"
Coming from the north of England we usually stay at the Euston Hilton when we are down in London. As we were flying back from Spain I was looking for somewhere that was close to Victoria railway station. I checked out Trip Advisor and found good reviews for base2stay. It is only two tube stops away from Victoria and and its close proximity to Earl's Court tube (1 minutes walk away) makes it ideal if you want to use the London Underground for getting around.
I checked on line and the best deal I could find was from booking with the hotel direct, so check that out if you are shopping about.
The room we had was of a decent size, with an en suite bathroom with shower. There is free internet access available, limited by a fair use policy, so using BBC iplayer on a laptop wasn't feasible but it would work on smaller devices outside of peak hours if the bandwidth wasn't being used by other guests.
The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but instead provides food preparation facilities in the room, with a refrigerator, microwave kitchen sink, kettle and various items of cutlery available. The hotel is a minute away from local shops so stocking the fridge wasn't a problem.
The staff were friendly and helpful providing a map of the local area and complimentary sweets; pointing out the basic shopping spots as well as the boutique areas close by as well museums and other local attractions.

"Great location, tidy hotel"
We needed a place that was close to transport, reasonably priced and a clean, modern room - and base2stay had all of that. The room was pretty small, but modern and the bathroom was fine. Wireless internet was a little flakey, but we received a refund for the wired connection without question. Easy walk from Earls Court & Kensington High St. Staff helpful regarding places to see, etc. Would stay there again without hesitation.

"Happy to please"
This no frills hotel made ever effort to please. I was not pleased with my room which I had requested to overlook the gardens of the neighborhood apartments. through some miscommunication, I did not get that room. Amy bent over backwards to satisfy me. Ashely also gets special mention as an excellent "concierge", eagerly booking tickets for us and researching every query we had. Enjoyed the location, as well. So close to the tube.

"Perfect for single tourist"
Just spent 10 perfect days at base2stay. I'd found it on Trip Advisor, booked stay, and crossed my fingers that it would stand up to the many favorable comments. It more than fulfilled my hopes. My single room was not in the least tight and, in fact, was larger than I was expecting, and I'd take it over larger quarters because it was so well thought out, attractive, well-designed, comfortable, very clean and very quiet, Adjustable, quiet heating and cooling system. Good lighting. Gleaming, modern bathroom with large shower. Smart, small kitchenette with microwave, fridge, hot water kettle, sink, cutlery, dishes. (I don't like to have to rely on restaurants for most meals.) Nearby Marks and Spencer had good, reasonable, and healthy take-out. Even better fare available from Harrods' food halls three undrground stops away. Hotel is a long block to Earl's Court underground. Hospitable, efficient and fast staff. I appreciated free wi fi (had my own laptop), tv, radio. I'll go back to this excellent hotel as long as they don't hike the rates.

"Great base of Operations in Kensington"
Clean, modern rooms, friendly staff, and wonderful location. Great value for money (almost W hotel design for much less money and a whole lot less fuss). Free WiFi was essential. Layout of the hotel ensured quiet sleeping. Wish they had a small business center so I could continue to work while my colleagues slept in the room. Oh, and they had great discounts and recommendations for restaurants. Balans nearby was chic, inexspensive, and very good (even by my NYC standards!).

"Great hotel - clean and perfect location"
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We booked through an online agency and everything was ready when we got there. Hotel is in perfect location, just a minute walk away from the tube. Close to great restaurants, to most of which we have had discount coupons thanks to the hotel. Great room, spotless. Although tiny, really good quality furnitures, TV, bathroom and small kitchen with everything in it. Free wireless is also included. The staff are very friendly and have great recommendations for sightseeing spots and restaurants. Bottom line, two thumbs up! Recommended for everyone.

"A convenient place to stay with good facilities that help keep the cost down"
This lovely little place is in a good location about a two minute walk from the underground railway station. I loved the fact that there is a kitchenette in the room which included a good range of crockery, kettle, microwave, fridge and sink. There is an excellent supermarket really close by that caters for ready made meals for one or two people. There is also access to the internet in each room. The bathroom has a heated towel rail and access to an ironing facilities.

"A perfect place to stay. Great value for money"
Before making a reservation I searched for a hotel with a high score in reviews. I was quite surprised to see that this hotel scored even more than 5 star hotels and this was the main reason for my selection. When there, it was exactly as described. The location of the hotel is fine, very near Earl's Court tube station, served by two major London underground lines. The location is a quiet, seems rather peaceful and there are many good shops in the neighborhood. The hotel was excellent. Very clean, very new and designed with a good taste. The staff was really very friendly and helpful in all cases. The only drawback was that the room, a superior room with a double bed and an armchair bed, was rather small for three adults. In compensation the bathroom had plenty of space. But from my experience, this is rather typical for London downtown hotels. The rooms service was superb.
We stayed for 7 nights and were overall very satisfied. Definitely it will be our first choice in any next London trip.

"Does exactly what it says on the tin"
I try and stay in this hotel every time I travel to London. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the rooms are contemporary and comfortable. The fact they don't have a bar or restaurant is not an issue as there are so many places nearby that serve great breakfasts (I love Bencho's on Earls Court Rd) and meals. You can also have food delivered to your room and make use of the mini kitchen. I hop on the tube at Heathrow and it practically drops you at the door of the hotel (well it's a 2 minute walk).

"Clean, very comfortable, in excellent neighbourhood, with helpfuly, friendly staff"
I was taking my 22 year old daughter and my 18 year old step-granddaughter on a mini-European vacation. Foremost in my hotel choice was security; a little luxury a plus. After carefully consulting tripadvisor.com, for our London leg I chose base2stay Kensington, and it did not disapppoint.
Its location is near perfect, on a quiet street, close to two tube stations and numerous dining options. The staff's recommendations were spot-on. The accommodations were more plush than I expected, including a heated towel bar in the bathroom, a mini-refrigerator, flat screen t.v., and free wi-fi. Everything was clean and in working order.
This will be my first choice on any return trip to London. Well done, base2stay!

"Fantastic location, fantastic service - no disappointments"
This hotel is in a fabulous neighborhood and conveniently located to the underground metro. The staff was very welcoming and offered superb service. The room and bathroom were larger than we expected by European standards. Also, the area was really quiet but yet close to everything including grocery store, post office and wonderful restaurants. Would highly recommend it and if my travels bring me back to London will be staying again.

"Great concept, perfect for our family"
We had two rooms at base2stay for 5 nights in November. We really enjoyed the hotel. My two teens shared a bunk room which was around the corner from the double/twin that my husband and I were in. The location was good- several blocks from the Earls Court station- with lots of eating options right by the station. The walk to/from the station was through a nice residential area- and the streets were quiet. The rooms were small but very clean and comfortable. There was no tub- only a shower in the bath- which was fine with me- and plenty of storage space for toiletries and such. I did not use the internet via the television however I got free wifi on my iphone. My kids had no problems with internet connections with their laptops (free). We were on the first floor so I don't know what it would be like to have to climb the stairs but there is a small elevator-which we never used.
The staff at base2stay is excellent. Really they could not have been more helpful. We blew a fuse in our room when my husband plugged in a charger that was not dual voltage (adapter but no converter) and the manager was there in less than 5 minutes and fixed it right away. We also managed to lock ourselves out of our safe and someone from the front desk helped us with that within minutes of our request.
The front dest employees were very friendly and always helpful with recommendations and requests for directions. We arrived early (before noon) after a long flight and our rooms were not ready- they held our luggage while we went and got a snack - and by the time we got back they had placed all of our luggage in our rooms.
I can see why some people would not like this type of hotel - it is quiet - and as there is not a restaurant/bar, workout facilities or business center on site , there really are no common areas except for the small reception area up front. We would never use most of those amenities and certainly we did not miss them but I can see how some people might.
I would not hesitate to stay again- our family was very comfortable with the set up we had and the service was probably some of the best that we have ever encountered during any hotel stay.

"Congratulations to the CEO of base2stay"
I have more respect to offer the CEO of this hotel establishment than any other business I have been a custom to.
I stayed in this hotel recently following an unusually high amount of good reviews on trip advisor. Many other hotels have some good reviews, often accompanied by an equal amount of fair to poor ratings. I chose to stay here for a weekend in London with my partner. The hotel is modern and contemporary, and set in a superb area of London just a 2 minute walk away from Earl's Court Station.
We were greeted by very helpful staff, and despite them appearing to be busy, checked us in swiftly. There is a calming atmosphere as soon as you walk in to the hotel. The staff are friendly, courteous, and helpful. They went out of their way to bring ironing facilities to the room, and I was even able to e-mail them ticket reservations whilst in the room which they kindly printed out and brought to us.
The room itself is clean and stylish, equipped with a mini kitchen, plenty of storage space, all the gizmos you should need and a rather cool shower! On our last day after checking out the staff were happy to look after our bags in secure storage until we returned from our day of sightseeing and returned home. All for no extra cost.
When I go to a hotel I don't want an overpriced mini fridge, a ridiculously priced food menu, or even member of staff who is either hesitant or quick to name a price for a service you require.
Hotel chains need to come to start understanding what their customers really want, and should learn a thing or two from this hotel. This is a hotel that I am confident in returning to, and will do so on many occasions I return to London.

"Perfect town hotel for business/leisure, single/couple. V spacious for what you pay!"
Great location, one block away from Earl's Court station. Plenty of shops around. Pubs around the corner. Mostly boutique hotels in the area. Quite a nice residential area surrounding it as well. Very safe even late at night. Very clean and neat. I stayed at a single room and it was by far the most spacious single room I've stayed at in London. Bathroom was very decent, I can actually turn around in the shower! Nice kitchenette, very handy. Reception staff were fantastic in their service, professional and very helpful. It may be slightly more expensive than Travelodge or other boutique hotels (actually this depends on when you book) but definitely worth every penny! They also give you a host of menus from various delivery places that you can order from, frankly better than room service or if they have their own restaurant. Though I'd like to see more meat options! You do get a discount at Gourmet Burger Kitchen if you're a guest though.

"Very welcoming and helpful"
We were greeted with a warm, friendly welcome from reception. Very efficient at checking us in and were given some great tips for places to visit in London, such as Borough (food) Markets on a Saturday.
The room was very comfortable but thought it would be bigger given the kitchette amenities provided, but they were cleverly tucked away in a folding wardrobe. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the room throughout our stay.
The only thing that could have been improved on was the level of heating in the bathroom. However, it didn't spoil our stay enourmously and we understand that plans are in place to improve this.

"Excellent service and very comfortable"
I came to London for a partner's birthday so booked a show at the Royal Albert Hall. I called in advance to check the view from the room and the member of staff that took the call was extremely friendly and went out of her way to help.
Due to the birthday, she offered to go to Marks and Spencer and put chocolates and fruit in the room for our arrival. She also moved us to a better room with a terrace.
The hotel itself does not have a restaurant or bar if that is what you are after, but the room was tastefully decorated like a new-build apartment and to a good standard. It was a real bonus that it had free internet on the plasma TV. We booked a superior king so it was just the right size but would think that the standard size rooms may be a little small.
The hotel was very centrally located and very close to Earls Court station with many things to see and do on your doorstep. Would highly recommend.

"My base in London"
I stayed at base2stay twice during 2008 and will gladly stay there again the next time I'm in London. It's located about a 5 minute walk from the Earls Court tube station, which is on the line that goes straight into Heathrow Airport. It also goes right into downtown London. It's about a 45 minute ride from Heathrow but it's a lot simpler than taking the Heathrow Express and transfering to another metro line or taking a taxi from there. I got a bit turned around trying to find the hotel when I first stayed there, but you want to walk straight out from the station and not along the main street. The hotel has modern amenities and a nice kitchenette, which makes it easy to have a quick breakfast. The shower is electronic and will shut off after a certain amount of time. The hotel also conserves energy by requiring a room key to be inserted in a special slot before powering up the electricity/lights, which is something I had to figure out myself on my first stay! The beds are comfortable and the rooms are quiet. The rooms have flat screen tv's and you can access the internet and check email from them. The keyboard mouse can be touchy, but it's convenient. There is plenty of storage space for your clothes. There is no room service, but there is a vending machine and the hotel has agreements with local restaurants for discounts. I personally like the local Indian restaurant. Overall, it's reasonably priced for a modern, well appointed hotel in a safe location with convenient access to everything you want to see in London!

The staff at base2stay all showed excellent customer service. They were really helpful, whether that be by sourcing extra food/drinks products for your room or helping you to find a restaurant for dinner. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Nice base in Kensington"
We only stayed at the hotel for one night, but we will return.
- Great service
- Quick check in
- Modern rooms, free internet, little "kitchen" in the room
- One block from the tube
No restaurant in the hotel, but who needs an overpriced hotel restaurant when in London?

"Convenient, clean, quiet and central place to stay, with helpful friendly staff"
We spent three days visiting the sites and attractions of London in December '09 and used base2stay as our base. It was a good decision as Kensington is a quiet, residential area and the hotel itself is small and clean with a helpful, friendly staff. I did not realise at time of booking that we were on a bed only basis. However, this was not a problem as there are numerous eating places in the locality which are inexpensive and provide a wide variety of fare. base2stay is only a short walk from Earls Court Tube Station and from here one can easily access any and every part of the city quickly and conveniently. The underground transport system is amazing and easy to get the hang of, with one-day tickets available which can be used on any or all lines that day. base2stay has rooms that are on the small side but did not skimp on comfort for all of that. The beds were very comfortable, the tea/coffee making facilities were very welcome and adjacent rooms made it easy for us to keep an eye on our teenagers! They had their own space while also being close enough to us to set our minds at ease. The quietness at night was also a plus - guaranteeing a good nights sleep. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to London and would definitely consider base2stay as the place we would stay in when next we visit London. We would have no problem recommending it to family and friends.

We would like to take this opportunity to warmly thank you for the fantastic stay we had at base2stay during December - January 2009. The accommodation was wonderful and sophisticated, the staff members were always warm, friendly, and professional and the service was absolutely fantastic!
The staff really went the extra mile to ensure that our stay was as comfortable as possible.
One staff member, Ashley, took great trouble in helping us find a specific book that we had been searching for all over London. She swiftly and efficiently found us a copy at Harrods.
We will certainly be recommending base2stay to others as the perfect London hotel. We will definitely be returning when we visit London again. Truly a fantastic experience in quality and excellent service.

"Extremely friendly staff, fantastic location!"
My husband, five-year-old daughter, and I were very happy with this hotel. Ashley, one of the staff members at the reception desk, greeted us in a very friendly way and was particularly helpful, providing a map, suggestions for discounted restaurants, and anything else we needed. It was a bit pricey because we had to choose a room that fit all three of us, but the comfort and the friendly atmosphere made it worth the price. We will definitely stay in base2stay again on our next trip to London.
